JOURNEY TO THE FUTURE
SCRIPTING PUNTA GORDA’S NEW MASTER PLAN

We begin an important journey today. Punta Gorda is planning to rewrite the Citywide Master Plan. The City is planning to do it with maximum engagement from the community. To that end, Council has just completed selection of the consulting firm that will manage the process. This time around, an economic development analysis and recommendations for updating our land development regulations are also part of the process. This is really the right way to go. It’s important to understand that the City could rewrite this plan at any time without gathering any citizen input. They have a staff of urban planners, and could just go and develop a plan, and let us know the outcome later. The fact that they have once again chosen to invest in a public engagement process speaks volumes for our current leadership. Read Nancy Johnson’s historical perspective
The City of Punta Gorda and TEAM Punta Gorda have released preliminary details for a free event they are holding, “ Punta Gorda: Journey to the Future .” The purpose of this event is to provide information to participants equipping them to more effectively contribute to the city’s creation of an updated Citywide Master Plan.

The October kickoff TEAM mixer was a great success. There were 62 people in attendance. TEAM now has 8 new volunteers who had never been to one of our mixers before. Learn More
History Garden Ready for Plants
Thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard three weekends in October. The garden is all cleaned up and ready for Season 3. It looks beautiful! A special thanks to the nine Charlotte High School students who volunteered this past Saturday. We couldn't have completed the work without them. An extra thanks to Heleen Schouten who worked behind the scenes to assure we met our deadline.

To Break Ground in January
TEAM is partnering again with Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity to build a new home for a deserving family. Ground breaking is scheduled for early January at the Virginia Street location in Punta Gorda.
