Stewardship Sunday
This Sunday, November 18, we will dedicate ourselves and our gifts to sustain Christ's mission through the efforts of this congregation. Over the last few weeks we have heard and read how different members have been challenged and sustained by their faith.
 We have asked you to reflect on how God has been faithful to you this year, sustaining you through all the challenges you faced.
Please return your pledge card this Sunday as a way of ensuring that our congregation moves into the future with renewed strength and vibrant commitment. Cards can also be found in the pews. If you are unable to join us this Sunday, please mail your card to the church office or send an email to Donna Ferry. We appreciated those who have already turned theirs in.
Thank you for the strong witness you continue to give to God's faithfulness to you.
Below is a testimony from Morgan Sarbello on being challenged and sustained in her faith.
This past year has been a particularly challenging one for me. I was faced with a lot of obstacles that threw me off the course I thought I was supposed to be on. So much that I didn't know if there was any path left. But this church has always been a place for me to come home to. The people in this congregation have helped me through so much and whenever I needed it most the love and support from my church family was always there. Thanks to my church, I have been blessed with the opportunity to have music as a part of my life again. It's terrifying for me to be able to stand in front of a group of people and be confident in what I'm doing. However, being the new conductor for the bell choir has given me the push that I needed to approach my fears and move forward into my life with more confidence. I'm so grateful for my choir and my church, and it helps approaching your fears when you're surrounded by people you love.

Christmas Shoppe This Sunday
On November 18th, the ladies of Busy Hands will once again have their Christmas Shoppe with holiday items for sale.
The gals of the Busy Hands are having a silent auction for a hand-sewn beaded Christmas stocking. This silent auction will be a "one bid, make your best offer" sale. The winner of this item will be announced at the end of the sale.
Busy Hands will also have additional items for purchase that include quilted totes, baby bibs, Christmas jumpsuits for toddlers, cloth books and quilts. Table Runners for Christmas and seasonal holidays will also be available.
Plan on stopping by the North Hall on Sunday for some early Christmas Shopping. Everything sold will go to support both Busy Hands and the church.

This Sunday Youth Protection Training
Youth Protection Training
is required for all our volunteers and staff who work with the youth  in our church. Youth Protection Training must be taken every two years.
This Sunday, November 18th, Elder Jim McGuire will lead the training. At the training, forms will be available to apply for the criminal background check the church requires.
Please note that training certificates expire within two years. Those who took the training prior to last year will have to be re-certified.

Inquirer's Class
This December Pastor Osy will be leading an Inquirer's Class for anyone wishing to attend. This Inquirer's Class will afford long time Presbyterians as well as Newcomers to our branch of the Christian faith an opportunity to ask questions and meet other people who may be considering joining with the congregation, or transferring their membership, or simply seeking to gain a deeper understanding of why we do what we do, all the while getting to know other people who may be relatively new to this congregation.
The class is scheduled for
Sunday, December 2, to take place in the Christian Education Annex following our monthly Church Brunch, approximately from 11:30 to 1 pm. Child care will be made available upon prior request (please call the church office so we can be prepared).
Please take some time to consider this invitation and pray to be open to the leading of the Spirit on this matter. If you decide to attend the class, just call the church office at 732-899-0587 to reserve a space.

Homebound Communion
Do you know a homebound member temporarily or long term incapacitated who would like to receive home communion? We have an excited team made up of deacons & elders that would gladly make a visit and offer a short worship service and communion on behalf of our church. These services coincide with our monthly communion which takes place the first Sunday of each month. Please call the office and let us know and we will be glad to have someone bring them home communion.

A Request from Head Usher Scott Smith 
We are in need of several Christmas Eve ushers for the 4:00, 7:00, and 11:00 services. We are also looking for 5 to 6 additional ushers to join an ushering team. With enough teams, we aim for each team to usher only four times a year.

Office Hours For Thanksgiving Week 
The Church Office will be closed on November 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving. All bulletin materials and announcements for next Sunday must be received in the office by Tuesday, November 20.

Thanksgivings Giving Dinner at the Elks 
On Thursday, November 23 there will be a free Thanksgiving Dinner at the Point Pleasant Beach Elks from Noon to 3 p.m. Volunteers are needed that week to help in the kitchen. If you are interested in helping, contact Terry La Du at 732-899-4635 or at [email protected]

Operation Christmas Child Update 
This week Ginny Claeys delivered 59 shoeboxes to the distribution center in Toms River. Thank you to everyone who prepared a shoebox!

PW Dine Around
PW . . . Come one! Come all! Dine Around with us on Wednesday, November 28 where we will try out P.J. Sweeney's Restaurant & Irish Pub, 447 Brick Blvd. in Brick. We will all need a break from the kitchen and from left over turkey, and to just relax with great company and a burger and beverage (or whatever you like!). We can share our gratitude for so many blessings and feel them multiply in the presence of our sisters. Please let Maggie Giaise or Lynn Hahm know if you plan to join us so we can reserve enough space. See you there at 6:00 p.m on November 28th.

Coming Soon: New Jersey Chamber Singers 
This December, NJCS presents a multi-sensory holiday feast that explores the intersection between theater arts, visual arts, and choral arts. Join us for a unique Christmas experience through the eyes of story-telling. Audiences will relive their childhood as they listen to a skilled actor reading three short stories that center on themes of winter, generosity, thankfulness, family, and love. The experience weaves together a tapestry of spoken word and song while audiences view projections of original illustrations to create a true feeling of story-time for grown-ups. Choral music includes works by Leighton, Sandström, Reger, Gjeilo, and Kirchner in addition to traditional holiday favorites.

Dec. 2, 2018, 6 p.m., Laurita Winery, 35 Archertown Road, New Egypt NJ.
Dec. 8, 2018, 8 p.m., Red Bank United Methodist Church, 247 Broad Street, Red Bank
Dec. 9, 2018, 3 p.m., St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake.
For the Red Bank and Spring Lake performances, tickets are $25, general admission; $20, seniors; $5, students, with ID. Senior and student tickets available at the door only.

This Week at Point Beach Prep
This week we learned all about letter H.
Our Nursery read Ho for a Hat!,Where is Mary's Hat?,Hungry Harry, and Cock a Doodle Hooo. They made hats, houses and handprint turkeys. Their sign language word was "hug". They practiced their songs for the upcoming Thanksgiving Shows.
Our Pre-K read Home for Hermit Crab,The Snowy Nap(hedgehog),Hush Up and Hibernate, and Countdown to Thanksgiving. They made hedgehogs,turkeys,holiday handprints, and their programs for the big show. They learned sign language for "H" and "hi". They sang Happy and You Know It, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Pig on her Head, and practiced all of our songs for the show.
On Monday we welcomed Retired Army Specialist Chris Cook for Veteran's Day. We read him a story, recited a poem, gave him a special poster, lots of candy, and a patriotic plant. He told us stories and answered some of the children's questions. We are grateful for his service. We would like to thank all Veterans for their service to our country!

Valentine House Seeking Donations for Their Holiday Store
For the past seven years the Joan Valentine House has given their residents a chance  to be part of a special gift buying and giving program for the holiday season. The holiday store is an opportunity for residents to buy gifts for family members of friends. The residents earn "Valentine Bucks" during the year for maintaining good hygiene, helping other residents, and helping out around Valentine House. By saving the Valentine Bucks during the year, the residents can buy gifts for loved ones at the holiday store.
All the gifts come from donations from local businesses and individuals. It's a great opportunity to re-gift items that are new or items never used. Examples of items for the store are candles, costume jewelry, books, perfume or cologne, clothing items, household items that are unused, games and toys and Christmas decorations.
The staff and volunteers staff the store and help residents pick out gifts and wrap them. There is also a need for gift bags, tags and ribbon. They have plenty of wrapping paper from last year. (This is different from the Valentine House giving tree we have each year, by which we choose individual Valentine House residents and buy a gift or two they've specifically asked for. The giving tree will be back again this Advent.)
Any items you may have to donate to the holiday store can be dropped off at the Valentine House or in the church office by Monday, December 3.
