Thanksgiving service: Building on the spirit of community from the service at Temple Ahavat Achim, the First Baptist Church (38 Gloucester Ave) is hosting an interfaith Thanksgiving service for all Cape Ann on Monday, November 19 at 7 pm. An offering will be collected for refugees on Cape Ann. Parking is available on site.
Read Father Bret's Midweek Musings in the Gloucester Daily Times, entitled, "We must be agents of transformational change." Reflecting on the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA, Father Bret writes, "We must voice our support for all our Jewish brothers and sisters, a people who from ancient times have known far more than their fair share of suffering and loss. And we must tirelessly and fearlessly reiterate that antisemitism is always completely unacceptable. We will be satisfied with nothing less than complete and consistent rejection of this and every form of hate." Read more here.
Thank you for your pledge!
(This will be updated weekly!)
Newly Received pledges from:
Stand with our immigrant neighbors and help us resist a proposed regulation that would give our government the power to deny green cards or permanent legal status to immigrants who have accessed public services commonly used by working families like Medicaid, SNAP, or housing assistance. This regulation would target the poorest immigrants, as wells as children, seniors and people with disabilities. Federal law requires a public comment period before the regulation goes into effect - it's not too late! Learn more about the proposed regulation and submit a comment after the 10:30 service in the Thompson Room, or online at protectingimmigrantfamilies.org.

St. John's Intercession List:
Andy Spellman, Patricia Anders, Tim Pierce, Susan Kessler, Jeffrey,
Sr. Judy Fortune, Charlotte Baxter,
Susan, Malcolm Henderson,
Harold Ercolani,
Margo Lion, Sally Elwell, Christine, James T. D., Maud & family, Meghan, Charles Curti, Tom Kaito, Katherine Esty, The Riccio family, Sharon Martin, Richard Jefferson, Anthony Shamitaro, Catherine Genovese, David Arnold, Connor Macauley, Simon Woods, Jackie Vannah, Susan Richardson, Mary McIntyre, Jane Walsh, Patti Kelleher, Margie Sonthemier, Beni Rose, Jack Ketchopulos, Marie Giacalone, Grace Center, John Fleming.
The Intercession List
is used by members of the congregation to pray on behalf of fellow parishioners or others in need of assistance. The assistance can be needed for any type of problem perceived by the person for whom the prayers are requested and stating the reason for the request is not necessary. Sometimes only the first name of the person on whose behalf the prayers are offered is used. The list is published twice a week, once in the emailed FYI bulletin and once in the Sunday bulletin distributed at the 8:00 and the 10:30 services. There are several sources for the list of intentions. Calls are received at the church office, Bret adds names based on his ministry of pastoral care and other calls are received by the person who keeps the formal, computerized list and whose name is publicized in the two bulletins. Anyone can call with a name for the list. Names are removed when the need for assistance has passed.
The FORUM is currently reading and discussing "Vintage Saints and Sinners - 25 Christians who Transformed My Faith" by Karen Marsh. Sundays at 9:15 in the Thompson Room.
Nurture and Challenge Your Spirit with us at St. John's.
