Worship & Music
Registration Reminder
We all forget to register, yet if you take two minutes now it helps everyone check in faster on Sunday morning. Just visit www.ghtc.org/register and you’ll receive an automatic reply where you can cancel your reservation before Sunday (check your spam folder if you don’t see it shortly after you complete your online reservation). The sanctuary is sanitized after services and we are improving worship every week, both live-streamed and in-person. Remember to wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance and greet others without physical contact while worshipping in person!

Communion this Sunday
Please join us this week when communion will be offered at all three services. Special procedures are in place for both communicants and celebrants so be sure to register today for this glorious celebration!

Altar Guild Meeting - Tonight at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom
Altar Guild members are invited to attend a meeting with Rev. Duane Nettles tonight at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. The purpose will be to reconvene the Altar Guild. We need more members, so if you are interested in joining, please feel free to come to the meeting and learn more about this important work.

Choir Get Together - May 5 at 7:00 p.m.
Although we miss having everyone in the choir each Sunday, we love the music at Grace & Holy Trinity! The next Choir gathering via Zoom will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Parish Life

Goodbye Aaron and Shelby
This May we will be saying goodbye to two of our staff members, Aaron Davis and Shelby Scattergood. Aaron is our Coordinator of Children’s, Youth & Family Ministries and will be graduating from Union Presbyterian Seminary in May. Shelby is our Administrative Assistant and has handled many of the behind the scenes aspects of the church. For those that didn't know Aaron and Shelby are married! They will be moving home to Raleigh, NC to be closer to family and to further pursue their career goals. You can hear Aaron preach on May 9 as he and Shelby conclude their duties at Grace & Holy Trinity.

April Vestry Notes
Martin Erb provides an update from the April Vestry meeting of Grace and Holy Trinity Church.

Meal Train
A parishioner and their family are in need of meals for the foreseeable future. We are looking for 2-3 meals to be provided each week. If you prepare a meal at home we ask that you follow these COVID guidelines when preparing the food. Thank you in advance for signing up!

Scholarship Season
Do you know a student who needs help with their tuition? Once a year, GHTC offers scholarships to parishioner families based on need…contact Barbara Derry to learn more.

Take a Hike Through Hollywood
Susan Hankins, Anne Percival and Beth McClelland invite you to join them on a walk through Hollywood Cemetery on the river after the 10:00 a.m. worship service on Sunday, May 2. If you are interested, please meet at the entrance to Hollywood Cemetery (a few blocks from the church at 412 South Cherry Street) at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. Walking shoes are recommended for the one hour hike; you can join in part or all of the walk. For more information, contact Susan Hankins or Beth McClelland.

Outreach

Vaccines at GHTC
Thanks to a recently formed partnership with the VA Dept. of Health the Red Door Ministry will host a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on May 7. Sign up here for your Moderna shot and spread the word since everyone in VA age 16+ is eligible for a free vaccine.

Episcopal Church Women
Learn more about the Episcopal Church’s long-term commitment to racial healing, reconciliation and justice in “Becoming Beloved Community.” The meeting will be held via Zoom on Saturday May 8 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Please contact Jodie Pully for more information.

Sock Sunday
Thank you to everyone for donating 65 pairs of socks this Easter season! For many of our Red Door guests fresh socks are always a need. Imagine the feeling of refreshment when you put on a new pair of socks after walking around all day. If everyone who registers for church brings one pair of socks then we would be able to offer a pair of socks to each guest at Red Door next week.
