Welcome to the June edition of Your City @ Work, a monthly online newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up to date on pending issues and actions before the City Commission so that you can participate in the decision making process. We hope you will find this form of communication educational and informative.

CITY NEWS
CITY HALL SITE LOCATION
At the May 14 City Commission workshop, Commission approved building the new City Hall complex on 737 Louden Avenue. The next steps will now focus on preparing architecture plans.

SKINNER BLVD UPDATE
At the May 16 City Commission meeting, Commission approved moving forward with design plans for Skinner Blvd. Next steps will include retaining a consultant to prepare construction plans.

CITY OF DUNEDIN STATEMENT
The City of Dunedin shares a statement regarding Code Enforcement action.

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Hurricane season is from June 1 through November 30 and preparing your home, business, vehicle and family is essential. Pinellas County Emergency Manageme nt has a variety of resources to help you know what to do before, during and after a storm.


2020 BUDGET WORKSHOPS UNDERWAY
The first of three budget workshops was held on Friday, May 17 at City Hall. City staff presented the Draft Business Plan and Capital Improvements Plan  to the City Commission. The next workshop is scheduled for July 16, 9am-2pm.

CALADESI ISLAND VOTED TOP BEACH
Caladesi Island was voted #7 on Dr. Beach's 2019 Best Beach in the US list.

COMMUNITY POLICING OFFICERS
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has a special unit known as Community Policing Officers. CPOs work to resolve issues and keep our community safe.

NESTING BIRD SEASON
May 1 to August 1 is shorebird nesting season, so small areas of our local beaches have been closed to protect the thousands of birds and their nests from beach visitors.

DUNEDIN CITIZENS' ACADEMY
Dunedin Citizens’ Academy offers residents an “All Access, Back Stage, VIP Pass” to learn about their government and the services delivered. Each session uses hands-on activities and lectures to provide participants with insight on how local governments work and the functions of City departments.

SENIOR HALL OF FAME
On May 8, the City of Dunedin’s Committee on Aging welcomed new members to the Senior Hall of Fame for Older Americans Month.

The Dunedin History Museum’s new exhibit, “Jagged Lines – America’s Tattoo Tradition” is now open. David Knupp, the curator discusses the new exhibit.
