This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

Prom Update
On Friday, April 16, Dr. Petzold and Mr. Vincent met with junior and senior student leaders to have a discussion about prom. It was determined at this time we should delay prom given the current guidelines and restrictions we would have to follow. We will continue to look for a date for prom if and when guidelines for dances change. However, through our discussions, it was determined that the latest possible date for prom would be June 26, 2021. Please continue to look for updates about prom as we move forward. It is possible that if restrictions change, we would quickly move to make this event happen. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Global Awareness Collecting Fleece Donations
The VLHS Global Awareness Club is making fleece blankets for area pregnancy centers and women's shelters. We are in need of donations of fleece that we can use to accomplish this. If you are able and willing, please consider a donation of clean, new fleece to the Global Awareness Club. All designs welcome, but there is a particular need for solid colors for the blanket backings. Pieces need to be standard 54"-60" wide by 1.5 yards. Donations can be dropped off in the school office or given to Mr. Patrick Winningham. Please direct any questions to pwinningham@vlhs.com. Thank you!

HELPING YOUR STUDENT RECOVER FROM THE PANDEMIC
It’s no secret that the past year has been hard, overwhelming, difficult - you name it. So how can you help your student recover, to reframe their experiences in a way that helps them move forward and be ready for the coming seasons when the pandemic no longer runs our day to day? Growing Leaders provides five different strategies for helping your student in this post.
CLASS OF 2022 INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS
Individual meetings will begin soon with current juniors to talk about the future - career ideas, college ideas, senior year classes, etc. Meetings are being held alphabetically by student’s Academic Seminar hours, so patience is appreciated as we work through the alphabet. Encourage your student to come prepared with questions or ideas. There are also great resources for college and career searches on their Big Future site - http://bigfuture.collegeboard.org.
THREE STEPS TO HELP STUDENTS START THEIR CAREERS
“So, what do you want to do with your life?” This question paralyzes students more than any other. They get stumped—not because they don’t have any idea—but because they have so many ideas. They often have several visions for their future. Check out this post from Tim Elmore at Growing Leaders for tips to help.
