PG&E Planned Safety Power Shuttoff
In October our staff worked around-the-clock in 12-hour shifts in the county's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to ensure we were able to relay the most current, vetted information back to the agency for 211 to disseminate to callers. The first activation of the EOC lasted for three 12-hour shifts which were covered by our Disaster Preparedness Coordinator and Executive Director. The second started the evening of Saturday, October 26 and went continually until the evening of October 28 and was covered by our Disaster Preparedness Coordinator and three different members of the management team who passed the baton every 12 hours. Pictured here are the agency's Deputy Director and Development Manager during their shifts.

A Pleasanton woman called wanting to know information about the Planned Safety Power Shutoff.
She said her phone was getting ready to die. 211 was able to check her address and give her detailed outage information in her area, such as the start time, estimated restoration time, customers affected, cause, status and last update. We were also able to provide her with the location of a Community Resource Center where she could charge her cell phone.
