Fall Grants Update

Summit teachers and administrators submitted 62 grant applications totaling just over $300,000 by our grant application deadline of October 15th. This is a RECORD number for the Fall cycle!  The SEF Grants Committee will be meeting over the next several weeks to review the proposals and make funding recommendations to the SEF Board.  the Best Seat in Town!

The students in Mrs. Elizabeth Mongno's math classes at SHS are rushing to her classroom to get the best seats in the house! With the Smith System flexible seating and the new Sit-to-Stand desks, her students can't wait to dive right into their mathematic lessons whether working in groups, pairs, individually, or conferencing with their teacher. Now, moving about the classroom from activity to activity is quick, convenient, and enjoyable. This innovative seating was made possible thru an SEF grant.

Partners Night Update

Approximately 150 "Partners level" donors and friends gathered at the home of Karen and Steve Bowman to celebrate SEF's grants to the Summit Public Schools one evening in October. A  performance was given by the SHS String Quintet, featuring an electric string violin, which the music department obtained with an SEF grant.  SEF also highlighted several notable grants from the last year including the establishment of the Arthur C. McCann Speaker Series, Battle of the Books, 21st Century Classrooms, Wilson Learning Garden and the STEAM Carnival.   Thank you to all who were in attendance.
