15th ANNUAL THANKSGIVING OUTREACH MEAL
Wednesday, November 21 ~ 4:30-5:30 PM
Donations and volunteers needed!
Again, this year, more than one hundred Christ Church volunteers will come together to provide a warm, traditional Thanksgiving meal to homeless and hungry people in our community the day before Thanksgiving. We enable a night off to local soup kitchen workers. Our Parish Hall transforms into a banquet hall serving 200 guests on real plates with additional servings and leftovers in to-go boxes. Our courtyard fills with skilled volunteers providing a bike repair ministry. If you'd like to participate, visit the volunteer sign-up link and select a task or two:
Volunteer Sign Up .
Monetary donations would also be appreciated and can be made at the Turkey Tree Station in the Parish Hall: $30 buys a turkey and $15 a side dish. The Turkey Tree Station will be open on Sundays until November 18. Please also consider donating new socks, gloves, hotel-style toiletries to include feminine hygiene products, and adult bikes in good working condition. We also need adult bike parts in new or good used condition: chains, tires, reflectors, lights, pedals, tire tubes, and even wheels without tires at least 26" in diameter. For more information, contact Ken or Sandy Pyle at (479) 651-0292 or (479) 414-1712 or

ST. NICHOLAS CELEBRATION
Sunday, December 2
9:00-10:15 AM ~ Parish Hall
St. Nicholas’ Day falls during Advent, when families begin thinking about Christmas. But during this busy time of year, we are also focused on how to keep ourselves and our children connected to the central message of God’s love – the birth of Jesus – a message that often gets lost in the wider cultural observance of the Christmas season. St. Nicholas, the 4th century Bishop, forms a bridge between true discipleship of Christ, and the cultural icon that populates the imagination of most Christian children. Celebrating St. Nicholas’ Day helps children connect their faith with everyday life, and to learn how to be more giving and generous to others. Please join us from 9:00-10:15 AM on December 2 in the Parish Hall for breakfast together, tree trimming, ornament making, family activities, and perhaps even a visit from the Old Saint himself. Bring a friend…and wear your pajamas!

CHRISTIAN FORMATION
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL ~ 9:30 AM
**NEW CLASS BEGINNING DEC. 9th** — Themes of Advent
Join Fr. Michael & Rev. Katie for a series during the weeks of Advent that looks at the Advent season, the themes found in liturgy, practices, and Scripture, and its importance for our Christian life.
This class is held in the Parish Hall.
Lectionary Class — Dick Hooper leads a class that uses “Living the Good News” which looks at the readings used in church that Sunday. It is green or “ordinary” time in the church calendar, but the class will again discover that the parables are as fresh today as they were 2000 years ago. Come and see!
This class is held in the Parlor.
Sunday Adult Education Round Table —
Luke 18:1-8 gives us one of most difficult parables of Jesus to understand, “The Widow and the Judge”. In her book
Short Stories of Jesus
, Amy-Jill Levine points out that neither character in the story is lovable or of particularly high moral character. Why would Jesus tell a story about someone who seeks revenge and is successful? Or about a judge who seems to want a paycheck without being bothered to work? With which character am I to identify? Even Ms. Levine’s commentary on pages 239-265 leaves us with more questions than answers. You do not need to have read the book in order to join the discussion. For more information, contact David Starling by phone or text at (850) 712-0977 or email
dastarling@cox.net
.
This class meets upstairs in Rm. 32 of the Christian Education Building.
Led by David Starling.
Sunday Centering Prayer Group —
Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, in which we experience God's presence within us. We begin by taking a few minutes to go over the basic guidelines of the practice for anyone who is new. We then sit together in the 20-minute prayer period, followed by a brief time for sharing and intercessory prayer. All are welcome — newcomers and experienced practitioners.
This class meets in the Centering Prayer room on the administrative hallway.
The facilitator is Joan White.
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR YOUTH ~ 9:30 ~ 2nd floor Christian Ed Bldg.
Godly Play — PreK & K, Rm. 36; 1st & 2nd Grades, Rm. 37
For our youngest worshippers, we utilize the Godly Play curriculum to help the children explore their faith through wonder and play. Each week, a Bible story is told to the children using the Godly Play method, after which children utilize their "work time" to create something in response to the story.
Feasting on the Word — 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades, Rm. 39
In our "transition class," children begin the bridge to middle school Sunday School through the use of the Feasting on the Word curriculum. Feasting on the Word provides a solid scriptural and theological base, inviting leaders and learners with the opportunity for a deeper understanding of common Bible passages. This program utilizes a mixture of scripture readings, discussion, visual art, and multimedia resources to create an engaging educational setting for our learners.
JR. & SR. HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL ~ 9:30 ~ in the Undercroft
NURSERY ~ 7:45 AM - 12:00 PM
Infants - 2 yrs. old — Nursery, first floor of the Christian Ed Bldg.
Infants — Rm. 24, first floor of the Christian Ed. Bldg.

ALTAR FLOWER MEMORIALS
Each week our worship service is enhanced with beautiful fresh flowers. After the Sunday services, the altar flower arrangements are reworked into smaller arrangements. These arrangements are delivered to members of our parish family that are unable to attend a Sunday service. The altar flowers are a memorial, a thanksgiving for an anniversary, a birthday, a new birth, or a thanksgiving for God's blessings. The donation is listed in the weekly bulletin. Forms to participate in this ministry are available on the information table in the Parish Office.
