Good Afternoon Northley Families,

The first marking period is in the books. The students have finished their Quarterly Assessments and have visited their MP1 Related Arts course for the last time. Monday begins the new marking period and along with a few changes. Most students will begin new Related Arts courses but all students will begin with a clean slate in the grade book. For those who have breezed through the first 9 weeks, they need to keep the pedal down and keep on trucking. And for those who have had a few bumps in the road, this is a perfect time to turn the corner and start on a new road to success. Please let us know how we can help. Communication is key to ensure all students feel Encouraged and Empowered so they can Excel.

Student Led Conferences: Student Led Conferences are a week away. The below links close this Sunday night November 11th at 11 PM. If you have not yet signed up, scroll down below, select the appropriate grade and team link for your child, and take a conference slot.  After Sunday night, any changes to conferences, adding or deleting, must go through your child's grade level team leader. You can contact them through their teacher page on the Northley website

Northley Scholastic Book Fair: Northley's Book Fair is here. The students will be visiting on the following dates: 6th grade - Tues. Nov. 13th, 7th grade - Wed. Nov. 14th, and 8th grade - Mon. Nov. 12th. There will be make up times on Thursday and Friday. Additionally, the book fair will be open during conferences on Monday 11/19 and Tuesday 11/20. Another cool feature of this year's book fair is the ability to prepay and set parameters for your child. No more blank checks, wondering where your change went, or if they are going to buy and extra large finger pointer instead of an actual book. Click on this link for more information.
Food Drive: Northley is conducting their annual Canned Food Drive to provide for families around the holidays. 1st period class will be competing to see who can bring in the most canned goods. The canned food drive runs from Monday, 11/12 to Thursday 11/15. If you would like to donate a turkey, ham, or other main protein for a family in need, please reach out to our School Counselors. Every donation helps a family in need. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

6th Grade Seminar: Ms. DiPietro's 6th grade seminar class again participated in the Coral Live project. This was an interactive encounter with coral scientists and explorers live from the Carmabi research station on Curaçao, in the Caribbean.
Our students participated in a live interview with the coral science team along with students from around the globe. The scientists discussed the work they are doing this year and answered questions from students in France, Belgium, UK, Bermuda, and Spain. Activities with the Coral Live team in this extreme environment are promoted by Digital Explorer in hopes to ignite young people's curiosity, develop scientific literacy skills, inspire the pursuit of STEM careers, and encourage environmental stewardship.

Have a wonderful weekend,
