Dear Students and Families,
As announced last week, Levine is thrilled to be returning to in-person instruction over the summer semester. Planning for Camp Levine is nearly complete and we anticipate announcing many other in-person summer activities soon, leading to a much-more-normal fall.
Over the past many months, staff have been busy preparing for our eventual return to campus. Because of the breadth of programming offered at Levine, this has been a complicated and detailed process. Levine serves students of all ages, infants through seniors, with a multitude of differing health and wellness concerns. Additionally, as has been widely reported, the very nature of vocalizing and playing certain instruments present unique challenges during the pandemic.
To ensure that we are acting on the best and latest information, Levine has engaged a team of epidemiologists and infection preventionists from the University of Maryland to advise us on every step of our reopening. Members of the UMD team have toured all of our campuses and teaching spaces and have studied our educational and musical activities. They have provided us with detailed reports outlining a phased approach to returning to in-person instruction including recommended safety protocols, information on proper air filtration and circulation, space utilization, and room capacity, and they remain engaged to address concerns and questions as they arise.
As part of our effort to provide the safest possible environment for students and employees, Levine will implement a vaccination requirement for eligible students and employees who wish to be on-campus. Appropriate exemptions for medical and religious reasons will be approved on a case-by-case basis, and students who choose not to vaccinate may remain enrolled in Levine’s Virtual Campus (now officially our sixth permanent campus).
