Chamber Connection
November 2018
Hello Chamber,

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, or sent well wishes for our official launch at Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in September. The air of motivation, determination, solidarity, and commitment was palpable that afternoon. We've created a solid foundation from which to build a new year full of tangible programming that will bring added value to you and your business. ( Click here to see photos of our launch event.)

So we've launched — now what? Immediately after the celebratory portion of our event, we got down to business with our inaugural Speed Businessing session. This was the first of many such opportunities we will facilitate for our members to connect directly to big corporations looking to work with diverse small businesses.

In early 2019, we will roll out our robust menu of programming. Just today, I had a very productive conversation with our partners at Babson College to plan a series of budgeting and financial management trainings that aims to improve the financial health of our members' personal and professional futures.

We've also been deeply focused on forging relationships that will ensure our chamber's success, adding amazing new board members, corporate founding sponsors, and strategic partners.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

We welcome four new members to our board of directors, Wilnelia Rivera , Richard Tisei , Stephen Chan , and Benjamin Perkins . These exceptional candidates join Chairperson James Lopata , Clerk Karen Young , Treasurer Nancy Stager , and Susu Wong to nurture our chamber’s mission and vision, and take us into a successful 2019.

NEW CORPORATE FOUNDING SPONSORS

Over the past three months, seven new corporate founding sponsors have joined our chamber — TD Bank , Hanover Insurance , Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts , Pfizer , Liberty Mutual Insurance , CVS Health , and Thermo Fisher Scientific . And we're thrilled! These companies round out 19 founding sponsors that have chosen to stand up for LGBTQ-owned businesses in our state and invest in our community’s economic growth.

STRATEGIC PARTNERS

Our chamber has also forged partnerships with six organizations already doing amazing work for the LGBTQ community — Federal Reserve Bank of Boston , The Boston Foundation , Provincetown Business Guild , Pride in Our Workplace , Boston Pride , and Babson College . These strategic partners will help us enhance our programmatic work as we leverage their expertise in their respective subject areas.

This has already been such an exciting year for our chamber and we look forward to getting down to the business of bringing you added value in the next stretch of our work.

Proudly,

Grace R. Moreno
