Democracy, Through My Eyes
Service Leader: Anthony Johnson
Sunday, November 11, 9:30 AM & 11:15 AM in the Sanctuary
When I first learned that the word “Democracy” was nowhere in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence, I was startled. Our government is a Democracy! It turns out our Founders actually feared democratic rule, preferring the word “Republic.” What is the difference; what does that mean for us today?

The Sunday post-election message from the Advancing Justice team will be rest, reflection and readiness for what lies ahead. Learn about challenges to come in AZ and the US. If you do not already know, find out what congressional and legislative districts you are in so you can find out who your elected representatives will be. Then rest some more -- we will need strength and courage as we continue to fight for policies that align with our principles.

Beyond Categorical Thinking (BCT)” is a weekend program designed to promote inclusive thinking and help participants come to terms with their own, often involuntary “categorical thinking.” The program is conducted by trained leaders who have examined their own fears and prejudices, and have learned effective methods to address these fears in themselves and in our UU congregations. During morning services on Sunday, Keith Kron, will lead both services to share valuable insights.

Child care will be provided.
