Preventing & responding to elected official conduct issues  

A new resource provides guidance on ways to prevent conduct issues by local elected officials, and how best to deal with them if they do arise. Developed by the Working Group on Responsible Conduct (WGRC), this guide provides advice on fostering responsible conduct, maintaining good governance and resolving conduct issues for those who serve on Councils and Boards. It also includes considerations for local governments that wish to establish an enforcement process within a Code of Conduct. Read more
Provincial Responses to 2020 UBCM Resolutions

Provincial responses to many of the resolutions from the 2020 UBCM Convention are now available. UBCM will follow up with letters to local governments that sponsored resolutions in 2020 to provide the relevant provincial responses to each resolution. Read more
Gas Tax Fund annual expenditure reporting

Annual Expenditure Reporting for the 2020 calendar year will be open from April 14, 2021 to June 1, 2021. Local governments may submit reports through the Program Information Management System (PIMS) link provided on UBCM’s federal Gas Tax Fund program section on our website.
Attracting entrepreneurs

The Province has extended the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Pilot to March 31, 2024. The Regional Pilot has demonstrated its ability to attract and welcome experienced international entrepreneurs and their families to move to – and establish new businesses in – smaller regional centres. BC Disaster & climate risk report

Local governments are invited, as part of an open call, to contribute to the BC Resilience Pathways Report. Led by National Resources Canada, this report is intended to provide a comprehensive collection of articles from organizations and individuals active in resilience planning in BC. Interested local governments have until May 15 to deliver short a submission.
