Celebrate the inauguration of Council at a special event at the Terrace Banquet Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 4, beginning at 7 p.m. The official ceremony will be broadcast at the reception and on vaughan.ca. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council will join the celebration following the inaugural meeting of Council and the swearing-in ceremony.
39th Annual Cardinal's Dinner
On Nov. 8, Mayor Bevilacqua delivered the keynote address at the 39th Annual Cardinal's Dinner on behalf of the 42 municipalities in the Archdiocese of Toronto. Mayor Bevilacqua equated political life as a humbling and sacred experience where one is entrusted by one's fellow neighbours to do what is right and just for the betterment of all people.

Make a Difference in Your Community


Share your expertise and serve as a citizen member of a City of Vaughan board or committee for the 2018-22 Council Term. Application forms are available in the City Clerk's Office (first floor) in Vaughan City Hall, Vaughan Public Libraries, community centres and online. The deadline to apply is Dec. 7.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services New Training Tower
Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services unveiled a new $1.2 million training tower. This tower provides VFRS staff the ability to train in a controlled environment on all types of hazard responses with conditions similar to actual fire calls. Another example of our commitment to service excellence in the community.

PA Day Fun : November 23

Looking for a fun way to pass your PA Day with the kids? Enjoy Kids A Cookin PA day camp. This camp is geared for children between 5-7 years and 8-12 years and there is an extended day care program available. Or check out some of the library programs like cardboard fort fun, comic book day, make music together, One...Two...3D and robot day.
Let's Celebrate the Spirit of the Season

Join us for the Santafest Parade on Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. The parade begins on Major Mackenzie Dr. and Jane St. and travels east along Major Mackenzie Dr. ending at Vaughan City Hall. Featuring multicultural floats showcasing traditional sounds and sights this event promotes community spirit, civic pride and lasting holiday memories while celebrating the Spirit of the Season.

City of Vaughan Road Improvements




Vaughan is making improvements to various roads in the city. Pavement rehabilitation on segments of Kirby Rd., Pine Valley Dr. and King-Vaughan Rd.; Pine Valley Rd. closure from Teston Rd. to Major Mackenzie Dr.; Major Mackenzie Dr. between Jane and Keele Sts. for the complete replacement of the watermain. Barons Street detour south of Hopewell Street. The detour will be phased out in stages as the new Major Mackenzie Drive bypass becomes operational.
York Region Road Improvements

York Region is making improvements  in  Vaughan. Hwy 27 and King-Vaughan Rd. intersection improvements; Yonge St. between John St. and Hwy 407; Phase 2 of Islington Ave. watermain rehabilitationis expected to be completed by Fall 2019.    
Highway 427 Traffic Impacts
Due to the expansion of Highway 427, the following temporary lane restrictions will impact traffic:  Steeles Ave. between Alcide St and Signal Hill Ave.; Hwy 7 between Vaughan Valley Blvd. and New Hunting Rd.; Major Mackenzie Dr. Between Hwy 50 and Huntington Rd.; Langstaff Rd. between Huntington Rd. and Hwy 27.         
vivaNext Updates
The Pine Valley Dr vivastation eastbound canopy on Hwy 7 Weston will be delivered and installed on Nov.15. Short-term lane closure between 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. may be required.  Overnight storm sewer work on Hwy 7 east of Weston Road continues from Nov. 8 to Nov. 16, from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m., curb lane closures around the work area will be needed.
      
Environmental Stewardship



Through innovative energy reduction initiatives and sustainable practices, the City of Vaughan has positioned itself as a leader in environmental stewardship. Our Facility Services department has overseen more than 65 energy saving projects since 2012 in 89 City properties covering 2 million sq. ft. of service space. Equaling a total savings of 2 million kWh/year or a reduction of over 94 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. That's the annual electricity use of 244 households or 785,714 loads of laundry!

City of Vaughan Toy Drive
The City of Vaughan is having its 9th annual City of Vaughan Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish to help families in need of assistance during this holiday season. In the spirit of giving, we are asking that you consider donating a new, unwrapped toy for children aged newborn to 18 years. Toys can be dropped off at community centres, libraries and fire halls until Dec. 6 and at Vaughan City Hall until Dec. 10 at 5 p.m.

Double Up Days
Take advantage of the upcoming Double-Up Days! Residents can dispose up to six items of garbage on your designated collection day without paid garbage tags during the weeks of Nov. 20th and 27th.

Highway 427 Expansion
The third Public Information Centre (PIC) for the Highway 427 Expansion took place on Sept. 27. Presentation boards are still available to view and provide feedback / comment / concerns which may be incorporated into Design and Construction Report #4, scheduled for public review in Dec. 2018.
