Sharing Our Faith - St. Albert the Great

Dominican friar Albert of Cologne was widely called Magnus the Great. His contemporaries said St. Albert simply knew all there was to know; he was a scientist, theologian, and philosopher; a teacher, preacher, and negotiator; a shrewd shepherd and an unflinching defender of the Faith.
St. Albert was tireless (and courageous) in his leadership and works of reform as a Dominican and diocesan bishop. Desperate popes asked him to take part in diplomatic missions, hoping that Magnus might succeed in making peace where lesser men had failed.
Because his writings and preaching are useful to Christians of any time period, St. Albert the Great is called a Doctor of the Church, along with several other special saints.
St. Albert reminds us that faith and science are not separate from each other and that we are all called, by our own Christian baptism, to defend our Faith and always work to make things better and bring peace where we can.
St. Albert 's feast day is November 15th. St. Albert, pray for us!
Financial Responsibilities

A friendly reminder to all families who are making tuition payments on the 20th of the month that payment is coming up next week.
Thank you to all families who have been able to catch up on their tuition payments!
We are now expected to submit records of delinquent tuition and it would be great to have no delinquencies from our school. Please call or stop by to catch up on your tuition if you have fallen behind.
We are so grateful that you value your child's Catholic education and make your consistent payments so that our teachers and staff can receive their salaries. Thank you!
JOG-A-THON 2018
Our annual Jog-a-thon is coming up on Friday! All students are expected to raise a minimum of $60 to help with the operational costs of the school. Students will receive awards for coming in First, Second and Third in each class. The student who brings in the most money will also receive an award. Please have your child ask everyone they know to sponsor them for this very important and FUN fundraiser!
Pledge forms have gone home and we ask you to read them over CAREFULLY!
REMEMBER TO CONTACT ADELINE CARRILLO ( 323.441.5870) IF YOU'D LIKE TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP AT THE JOGATHON! You can also help by stopping by the office to find out what donations are needed for the event day.
Report Cards
Students in grades K-8 will receive their report cards at Conferences. These report cards do not have to be returned to school-they will be yours to keep.
Students who have maintained high grades this trimester will receive Honor Roll certificates on Wednesday, November 28th. Please join us for Mass at 8:15 which will be followed by the First Trimester Honor Roll presentation. You will be notified if your child has earned Honor Roll.
ARE YOU RECEIVING 'REMIND' TEXT MESSAGES?

All parents/guardians are asked to make sure to sign up for 'Remind' text messages. It is very vital that each parent or guardian sign up to receive important information that is sent out from school. Please don't miss any messages! Sign up info is found near the door of your child's classroom. Based on the survey taken a t the end of the Parent Guild Meeting, over 90% of all parents are receiving Remind texts. Please be sure you sign up if you have not yet done so.

Candy Sale News

Our Candy Sale over! Thank you to all families for participating! We are still missing approximately $4500 of the candy money for the boxes that were taken. Any boxes taken MUST be paid for. Please MAKE SURE TO TURN IN ALL CANDY MONEY ASAP! We are counting on that money to help make our payroll.
VIRTUS TRAINING

Parents who plan to volunteer at school during the coming school year must be Virtus trained. Virtus is the child safety training program that all adults who work and volunteer around children at church or school must complete. It focuses on appropriate interactions with children. There is no cost to you. Virtus certification must be updated every four years through a 1 1/2 hour re-certification class. You must complete Virtus 1 before doing a re-certification. The safety of our children is extremely important to all. Please be sure to attend a training if you plan on volunteering/helping out at school.

To find locations for Virtus training please click on the link below and scroll to (Archdiocese of) Los Angeles location. St. Ignatius falls under the San Fernando Region, but you may attend a Virtus class in any of the five Regions in LA County.

Please be sure to obtain a certificate and bring it to the school office so we can make a copy for our files. All Staff, Parent Board, Room Parents, and Volunteers must be Virtus trained for the safety of our students.
Did You Know? ... Family/Teacher Conferences
