NISD Wants Your Input!
2020-2021 Parent Survey Now Available
Northwest ISD is seeking feedback from parents and caregivers to identify strengths and areas needing improvement. Northwest ISD conducts this survey every two years, asking the same questions, to gauge parents’ perceptions in the following areas of the school district:
                Campus climate
                Safety
                Communications
                Instructional program
                Support services

If you have children enrolled in more than one school, you will be able to take the survey for each child.

If you prefer a paper copy or a Spanish version, please call 817-215-0171. The survey will be available at www.nisdtx.org/parentsurvey now through Friday, June 4.

Thank you in advance for your participation in helping the district work toward achieving its mission to prepare students to confidently navigate their futures!
NISD COVID-19 Protocols Expire June 4
The Northwest ISD 2020-2021 COVID Protocols will expire on June 4, 2021.

The one exception is that NISD will continue close contact tracing (Tier 3 notifications), as required by local health departments. This will be similar to how we have communicated other communicable diseases and community health notifications (pink eye, chicken pox, head lice, etc.) in the past.

We also encourage individuals to continue to follow best practices in terms of personal hygiene, hand washing, and staying home when ill. In addition, we will continue cleaning and disinfecting our facilities in a manner that’s designed to keep our students, staff, and visitors as safe and healthy as possible.
Summer Enrichment Opportunities for Students in All Grade Levels
Northwest ISD offers a variety of summer opportunities so students can stay engaged and keep learning while school is out.

Research shows that as much as two months of math and reading skills can be lost during summer break. But it only takes a couple of hours a week of learning for students to avoid the summer slide. We encourage students to continue to read books and take advantage of the break to explore their interests and learn something new!

Visit www.nisdtx.org/summer for a list of opportunities available this summer for elementary and secondary students, including creative problem-solving camps, athletic camps, fine arts camps, summer reading and more.

Plus, you can take your kids on a virtual vacation through the Learning That Takes You Places site. Students get to virtually explore a variety of cultures and locations around the world by reading, discussing, writing, reflecting and extending their learning, all while incorporating aspects of STEM, CTE, athletics and fine arts.
Students Receive Hands-on Experiences — Including Delivering a Baby — in EMT Certification Program
Texas is currently facing a large shortage of health care professionals across the state.

But thanks to a didactic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program offered at all three comprehensive high schools throughout Northwest ISD, students have the opportunity to be work-ready and professionally certified, all before graduating from high school.

The School of EMS has partnered directly with Northwest ISD and the district’s Career and Technical Education department to create dual-credit enrollment programs for students looking to learn EMS skills and advance toward a career immediately following high school. Across the district, there are more than 30 students currently enrolled in the EMT skills training program.
Clara Love Elementary Teacher Wins Top Science Teacher Distinguished Award
Valerie Valadez, a fifth grade teacher from Clara Love Elementary, was named a distinguished award recipient of the 2021 Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching by the Texas Medical Association.

Valadez is one of five teachers across the state — and the only elementary teacher — to earn the honor, which includes a $3,000 donation to Clara Love Elementary. She said she’s excited to use the donation to spread excitement for science to younger students.

“We want to do a lot of hands-on experiences for the little ones and really get their hands dirty,” she said. “It’s important to develop that love of discovery and investigation early, and these funds will help provide those experiences.”
NISD Fine Arts Seniors Receive More than $2M in Scholarship Offers
Northwest ISD's Fine Arts department has recognized graduating seniors in their annual Senior and Scholars slideshow. Seniors from across the district were offered a combined amount of $2,356,101 in scholarship opportunities to continue their fine art pursuits in college. Congratulations, students!
