Bali: Beats of Paradise spotlights pioneering Indonesian composer, Nyoman Wenten, who spent most of his life spreading the beauty and mystery of Balinese music and dance across America. Shot mostly in Bali by director-producer Livi Zheng, the film encapsulates the brilliant scenery of the island as well as the authenticity of Balinese culture and Gamelan music. Known as the music of Indonesia, Gamelan (pronounced Gah-Meh-Lahn) typically uses bronze, iron, bamboo or wooden bars, as well as bronze and iron gongs, gong chimes, cymbals, bells, and two-headed drums to create a unique shimmering sound.

Taking Machaut's Jugement du roy de Behaigne ("Judgement of the King of Bohemia") as their inspiration, Meravelha explores tales of love lost and won, hearts ablaze and broken, and all the angsty pangs of courtly love, as set by Guillaume de Machaut, himself.

Taking inspiration from the percussion work Shared Space, the workshop explores what it means to share space musically-from the interior of a home, to the concert hall, to outer space. Journey with the workshop as these ideas are considered both literally and figuratively.

André Custodio hosts a series of performances of textured sound utilizing electronics and other instruments for a bookstore environment. He will be performing solo for most of these Saturdays, but will occasionally be inviting others to fill-in.

Audible Method was established in 1997 in San Francisco, and featured the works of artists such as David Slusser, LX Rudis, Tom Nunn, Ernesto Diaz-Infante, Bruce Eisenbeil, Brian Fergus, Phillip Greenlief, Aurora Josephson, and André Custodio. Other artists such as Bill Noertker, Eddie Gale, and India Cooke also participated.

Libella: Featuring eclectic electronic musicians Carmen Rizzo and Joel Shearer dipping into ambient landscapes. Libella, a Los Angeles based duo are comprised of two time Grammy nominated producer and electronic musician, Carmen Rizzo and multi-instrumentalist and artist, Joel Shearer who's collective album credits range from Coldplay, Ryuichi Sakamoto to Damien Rice and AR Rahman.

Karavan Sarai: Performing original and traditional electro-acoustic music of the Silk Road interwoven with ambient contemporary electronica. With the gracious power of belly dance to the colorful dances of the Indian gypsies, one is transported on a visual and sonic journey.

Born 11 days apart on opposite sides of the country, Leo Dillon and Diane Sorber met as students at the Parsons School of Design, where they became instant rivals and steadfast partners in life and art. They worked in concert for over 50 years, demonstrating remarkable versatility and a mastery of media, adopting different modes of expression to best illustrate each narrative. They dedicated themselves to portraying children of color so young readers could see themselves reflected in stories. This survey presentation includes art from the Dillon's two Caldecott Medal books, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears (1976) and Ashanti to Zulu: African Traditions (1977), as well as numerous other picture-book titles. Diane's recent solo venture, I Can Be Anything, Don't Tell Me I Can't (2018), is also featured.

José Antonio Rodríguez is a remarkable guitarist virtuoso acclaimed for his powerful and evocative renditions of contemporary flamenco and one of the few composers of flamenco music with international prestige.

Nocturnal birds of prey, owls have figured in world cultures throughout history, from Greek mythology to Harry Potter's Hedwig. Artists and writers have long been drawn to owls as symbols of wisdom, envoys to the spirit world, or as harbingers of misfortune. Selected from The Carle's storage vault, Illustrated Owls features, among others, Garth Williams' Children's Book Week poster (1955), Ezra Jack Keats' lithograph from Zoo Where Are You? (1964), Maurice Sendak's lithograph from A Kiss for Little Bear (1971), José Areugo and Ariane Dewey's watercolor from Owliver (1974), Barry Moser's resingrave print from The Pennyroyal Caxton Edition of the Holy Bible (1999), and numerous E. H. Shepard illustrations of Owl, Pooh, Tigger, and other friends in the Hundred Acre Wood.

Our Voice is the first retrospective of all winners and honorees since the establishment of the award in 1974. Ancient Future's first concert took place on February 11, 1979, at the Sleeping Lady Cafe in Fairfax, California, a vegetarian cafe and music club co-op that was the center of a vibrant local music scene. It was the day before Ancient Future leader Matthew Montfort's birthday, who was not yet of nightclub age. This concert on Montfort's birthday celebrates Ancient Future's 40 years at the forefront of the world fusion music movement.

This exhibition celebrates The Very Hungry Caterpillar, from its humble origins to one of the most iconic children's books of all time. Published in 1969, the first edition was produced in Japan since printers in the U.S. could not affordably carry out the complex project of die-cut holes and irregularly-sized pages. With it, Carle transformed the traditional picture book into an interactive object, "a book you can play with, a toy you can read."
