The Oregon Ways and Means Committee will be hosting virtual roadshows to hear about issues important to Oregonians. The meeting for Lane County residents will be held Thursday, April 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Get COVID Vaccine at CARES Center April 22
Last month, the Lane County Public Health Department visited the CARES Center to educate local residents about the COVID vaccine. In the following days, The CARES Center helped more than 100 individuals get registered for the vaccine.

Lane County Public Health will host a COVID vaccine clinic at the CARES Center on Thursday, April 22 from 2-5 p.m. The Pfizer vaccine will be administered at this clinic.

To register for the clinic, call Edith at 541-285-1888 or Mariela at 541-321-8034. Preregistration is required as vaccines will be limited to 120 people.
Family Network Parents Testify at Ways and Means Hearing

Special thanks to Jessica McClurg and Yecenia Rodriguez for using their voices to testify before the Joint Committee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Human Services last Tuesday.

McClurg, a parent with The Arc's Families Connected, and Rodriguez, a parent leader with the Family Advocacy and Support Network in Klamath County, delivered powerful testimony in support of reinstating the $1.3 million for the statewide family networks in the Office of Developmental Disabilities Services budget.

Registration is now open for The Arc Oregon's Virtual State Convention, scheduled for May 5-8.

The conference will feature sessions on the LifeCourse framework, guardianships and alternatives, housing, advocacy and public policy, and health and well being.

Professionals, family members and people with developmental disabilities are encouraged to attend. People with developmental disabilities and their families may attend for free. Register online.

Eugene Adaptive Recreation to Host Sexual Assault Prevention Class
Adults who experience developmental disabilities are invited to attend Safe, Strong & Free, a sexual assault prevention class, starting April 23.

Research Opportunity for Youth, Young Adults with Disabilities
The University of Oregon is looking for youth and young adults who experience intellectual disabilities (ID) to help develop a diagnostic assessment of mental health disorders among young people with ID.
