Following the November 6 vote, the Board of Education held a Special Meeting to discuss the referendum results and next steps. No action was taken.
The Board directed Administration to bring to the November 19 meeting data on the areas the Board identified for potential reduction to allocate money to fix infrastructure, improve accessibility, improve safety and security, and to upgrade classrooms on a five- to six-year timeline. Along with those data, the Board requested that Administration assess the impact on students as well as the timeline required to implement the reduction. Below is the list of areas identified for potential reduction:
·
Eliminate transportation (for non-Special Education, non-McKinney-Vento students because it is required by law)
·
Limit Advanced Placement (AP) classes
·
Limit co-curriculars (activities and athletics)
·
Limit the total number of credits students can earn
·
Use distance learning to offer classes at both campuses using one teacher
·
Replace the two department chairs in each department with one division head
·
Increase class sizes
·
Move more students to South
·
Limit the number of science classes students can take
·
Reduce PE instruction from five to three days per week
The meeting adjourned at 9:56 p.m.
No changes have been made to the calendar of regularly scheduled meetings, which can be found
