March of the Penguins is a 2005 French feature-length Oscar-winning nature documentary depicting the yearly journey of the emperor penguins of Antarctica. At the end of each Antarctic summer, the emperor penguins of the South Pole journey to their traditional breeding grounds in a fascinating mating ritual. The journey across frozen tundra proves to be the simplest part of the ritual, as after the egg is hatched, the female must delicately transfer it to the male and make her way back to the distant sea to nourish herself and bring back food to her newborn chick. This film is rated G; Common Sense Media rating: Ages 6+
The science and enchantment of the global forest provides us with answers to modern dilemmas. ‘ Call Of The Forest – The Forgotten Wisdom Of Trees ’ is a documentary featuring scientist and acclaimed author Diana Beresford-Kroeger. The film follows Diana as she investigates our profound biological and spiritual connection to forests. Her global journey explores the science, folklore, and restoration challenges of this essential ecosystem. This film is a part of Hopewell Theater's ongoing series,  The Art of Living Well, featuring inspiring films, speakers and interactive discussions exploring ways of cultivating serenity, meaning and a deeper connection to one’s self and the world.
Massachusetts writer and song-singer  Heather Maloney  celebrates the release her 2018 EP, Just Enough Sun. The six songs (five new originals and a cover of Dylan's "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall") were recorded as mostly single-take, live performances in a room where instruments bled into vocal mics and vocals into instruments. The album effortlessly captures accompanist Ryan Hommel and Maloney's dynamic live performances as a duo, with subtle instrumentation that lifts the songs up to new places without ever shifting the focus too far from Maloney's stunningly visceral voice and thought-provoking lyrics. The result is a raw and deeply vulnerable collection songs that follow Maloney's literate and often heartbreaking exploration of family history, childhood dreams and the adulthood realities that butt-up against them; loss, misogyny, unrequited love, poverty, and even the moral dilemma of sending monkeys into space for the sake of science.

Izzy Heltai  is a folk singer and songwriter based in Northampton, Massachusetts. He has been described as possessing "a voice that is equal parts gruff, sandpapered scratches, unfiltered and open just enough to let the story out and smooth, honeyed flavor that eases you in" (Red Line Roots). He has performed at Mass MoCa’s acclaimed Freshgrass Folk Festival for two years running, and his debut EP release in January of 2018 was accompanied by a sold-out release show at the historic Club Passim in Cambridge, MA.
In 1990s Los Angeles, 13-year-old Stevie escapes his turbulent home life by hanging out with a new group of friends he meets at a local skate shop, plunging him into a world of fun, danger and excitement. Mid90s tells a clear-eyed yet nostalgic coming-of-age tale that might mark the start of an auspicious new career for debuting writer-director Jonah Hill.

The Liars Show
Call it an unreality show. Since the summer of 2006, The Liar Show has taken the art of deception to theaters, cabarets and cultural centers around the U.S. and Canada and was called “A Winner” (The Scotsman) and received 4 Stars during a month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. At each show, four performers tell short personal stories, but listen carefully, because one of these people is making it all up. Interrogate the cast and expose the Liar to win an unbelievable T-shirt. But as The Washington Post wrote of the show: “Prizes mean nothing compared with the sweet victory of being recognized as the savviest people in the room.” Brad Lawrence hosts storytellers Cyndi Freeman, Marie Faustin, Tracy Rowland & Leslie Goshko.

Women of a Certain Age
With Louis CK, Bill Cosby and Al Franken out of the comedy circuit and no doubt many more “balls” to drop, the only funny people left are the legendary women of stand up.

Women of a Certain Age Comedy is a show straight from the unfettered mouths and uninhibited minds of the funniest, most daring, most experienced people in comedy: the women that have seen it all.

They’ve raised children both on and off the road, having club bouncers watch their babies while onstage. These women have stayed in comedy condos where you don’t want to use a blacklight on anything. They’ve been told women aren’t funny and asked to trade sexual favors for work. Trust us, they have A LOT to say and they say it hysterically. Saturday, January 19 at 8 pm
