In 2019 the UC San Diego LGBT Resource Center will celebrate 20 years on our campus. As we begin to plan for events connected to our 20 th  anniversary year, please hold Saturday, February 2 nd , 2019 from 4pm-6:30pm for an event which honors our 20 years.

Love is Light aims to create a welcoming and comforting social environment for LGBT students of all spiritual backgrounds. As inclusion is the founding principle, allies and non-religious LGBT students are welcome. The group will affirm students' identity as part of the LBGT spiritual community and promote compassion, tolerance, and self-care through mental, spiritual, and physical wellness.

Coming Out Group

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting.  This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out.  Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 3 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

Be A CASP OASIS Learning Community (OLC) Mentor

CASP OLC Mentors help plan and co-facilitate CASP OLC seminars with a CASP professional staff member. Mentors' responsibilities also include:
- keeping attendance records
- putting together worksheets
- communicating with the OLC students about CASP requirements and resources.

Ask a Health Educator

Bria Hamlet is a Certified Health Promotion Specialist from the Health Promotion Services (HPS) department. Her focus areas include Alcohol and Other Drugs and Sexual Health. During her office hour, she will provide information about services available at Student Health Services (SHS), as well as upcoming wellness events and workshops. Bria also counsels students before they begin pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, for HIV infection prevention. She can answer questions about that process as well. 

Fall Immigration Forum

At the event, our immigration attorney, Saya Austin, will discuss the importance of immigrant families developing a Family Preparedness Plan given our political climate and the increase of immigration enforcement in our communities. She will go over what should be included in your Family Preparedness Plan, such as a Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit for minor children in case their parents face an immigration emergency, for example a raid, detention, or deportation. 

Dinner will also be provided.

Volunteers Needed for A LGBT Housing Study

The study is a brief 15 to 30-minute survey in which participants have a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card for participating. The survey looks into students' experiences living in on-campus housing, mental health, social support, satisfaction with life, perception of campus climate, academic performance, and concealment and disclosure levels for sexual orientation and gender identity. 

The study is open to anyone who is currently an undergraduate or graduate student, identifies as LGB, transgender, or gender nonconforming and is currently lives on-campus.

Marine Physical Laboratory Summer Internship Program

Our internship program is a great opportunity for inquisitive and motivated undergraduate students with exceptional aptitude for quantitative science majoring in Oceanography, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology to work with some of the most notable scientists in the world while earning a modest salary.
