Follow God

In writing this short devotion, I did a Google search for “Redefining Life” books. The results were staggering, even if some were repeated results … 10.7 million results. Truthfully, as human beings, we have an insatiable taste for life to be different and better. Good News! The God of the universe walked into the realm of humanity 2000 years ago, to redefine life for us. It was what He had decided would eventually have to happen for humanity to enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus says in verse 17, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” This is the redefining of life – turn to Jesus only.

Peter and Andrew were in the middle of their job, throwing out a net when Jesus called them to redefine their lives as His disciples. They listened to the call of repentance to turn to Jesus and to follow Him to become “fishers of men.” They left everything and followed Jesus, immediately. They left the physical fishing duties to others to have their lives redefined and redeemed by Christ. They would forever be known as the disciples of Jesus and apostles. How are you defined by your children, family, friends, and co-workers? When people ask you what do you do, what will you tell them? May the Gospel of Jesus Christ redefine our lives.

Mr. Russell
High School
Students were able to not only create their very own telegraph using their knowledge of electromagnetism, but they were also able to send messages to each other using Morse code. Students connected their telegraphs using a telegraph line.
Miss Perry
4th Grade
The Varsity Tennis team's #2 singles player was out of town and missed her match against Fremont Christian and Bentley. This forced everyone to move up the ladder and Danielle was pushed to #4 singles. She has only played doubles until then, so her match up against FCHS was her first singles match ever played in league competition. Danielle played so well against her FCHS opponent that she dominated her match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Against BHS, after a losing the first set, she gathered her composure, got to a “green light” mode and won the second set plus a 10-point tie breaker. Way to go, Danielle! She is now 2-0 as a singles player. We celebrate her hard work and determination! #GoEagles
Middle School Leadership
Participates in
International Coastal Clean-up Day
Nine members of the MS Leadership Team partnered with other volunteers at the Hayward Shoreline on September 15th for #InternationalCoastalCleanupDay. The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline. Volunteers from states and territories throughout the U.S. and more than 100 countries come together each year and participate in a cleanup event near them.
RCS Students Gather to Unite at
See You at the Pole
When asked how to start a revival, a popular British evangelist said, “Go home. Lock yourself in your room. Kneel down in the middle of the floor, and with a piece of chalk, draw a circle around yourself. There on your knees, pray fervently and brokenly that God would start a revival within that chalk circle.”

On Wednesday, September 26th, MSHS students prayed for a revival . They gathered in a circle in the quad to pray as a community for our Nation, President, City, County, Teachers, Students, Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMt’s, for the lost and to unite with students around the world, to announce their love for Jesus.

The SYATP movement began in 1990 by a group of Texas students looking for a simple way to express their faith together, and since then, SYATP has been marked as a day where students gather to unite around the world in prayer.

On Thursday (9/20) and Friday (9/21) Middle School and High School students grades 6 - 11 took the Degrees of Reading Power (DRP) and on Monday (9/24) and Tuesday (9/25) Grades 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 took the Writing A Program (WrAP) Assessments during school.

What are these assessments?

The DRP helps us track students' reading comprehension growth over time and identify both strengths and areas needing specific instruction in the classroom. Students take the DRP in both the fall and spring semesters each year.

The WrAP tests a students' ability to use stimulus-based writing prompts to develop analytical writing in the genres Narrative, Informative, and Argument/Opinion writing, ultimately helping RCS students grow in their ability to respond to a prompt, organize thoughts, and effectively communicate in writing.
