Coming in October: The Czech Center in La Grange plans to honor the Vrazels' Polka Band at its Heritage Fest Muziky event. Gary E. McKee and Theresa Cernoch Parker collaborate on a feature story about the polka legacy created by the Vrazels. Gary's column features a tragic story about a Fredericksburg dance hall from the past. Since it's Oktoberfest season, Theresa visits with an OFest expert - Mike Barker of Alpenfest. On the sidelines now because of Parkinson's disease, Mike still shared some good advice about embracing this special time of the year. Justin Everett reviews a Cajun CD by Chris Rybak, and profiles DJ Craig Ebel. Of course, we have your listing of dances, festivals, live music events, and church picnics.

WEEKLY LAUGH
When I was young in the 1960s, I decided I wanted to a be doctor, so I took the entrance exam to go to medical school.
One of the questions asked of us was to rearrange the letters PNEIS into the name of an important human body part which is most useful when erect.
Those who answered 'spine' are doctors today.
The rest of us are sending jokes via email!
