Why the Park needs your support for the license plate:
  • Budget Needs. Entrance fees and the federal budget appropriations fall short of the park’s needs. Mesa Verde National Park has a deferred project deficit of $57million some of which is needed to stabilize Spruce Tree House and Cliff Palace cliff dwellings. $30 from each license plate will support important projects at Mesa Verde National Park.
  • Mesa Verde contributes to the Colorado economy. The nearly 600,000 visitors to Mesa Verde each year spend over $55 million in communities near the park. That spending supports more than 800 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $66 million.
  • Park recognition. Nestled in the Four Corner region of Colorado, the Mesa Verde National Park License plate will spread the word about this unique Colorado destination.
Our goal is to collect 3,500 signatures by December 1 from Colorado residents who own a vehicle to put our application in front of the Colorado legislature in 2019. This bill is being sponsored by Colorado State Representative Chris Hansen and Colorado State Senator Don Coram. Please show your support of this national treasure and your interest in purchasing a plate by signing our petition today!
