MEM Welcomes New Students for 2018-19 
Nearly 40 Students Attend MEM New Student Orientation   
  
Earlier this month, MEM welcomed its newest students at a full-day orientation. The orientation comprised of a campus tour, program overview, l eadership exercise, career development presentation and culminated with the annual welcome dinner with alumni and faculty .
  
The new students join MEM from a diverse set of companies such as ABB, L&T, U.S Navy, Cisco, UL, Kraft-Heinz, ComEd, and Reliance.  In addition, international students have traveled from all parts of the globe to join MEM, including the countries of China, India, Kazakhstan, Chile, Panama and Austria.
 
We are extremely excited for the recent additions to MEM and Northwestern Wildcat family and wish them well for an exciting journey ahead!  
MEM / PriSim Football Tailgate Kicked Off the Fall Quarter 
MEM Students, Alumni, and Faculty Gathered for Annual Tradition 

 
A perfect fall morning and tasty breakfast set the stage for the annual MEM/PriSim  tailgate on September 8. Sponsored by  PriSim Business War Games , the family-friendly event provided an opportunity for the MEM community to kick-off the year on the right foot! Over 140 attendees comprised of students, faculty, and alumni joined the celebration.  
 
A special thanks again to Professors Jeff Lefebvre, Dave Semb, and PriSim Business War Games for sponsoring and making it a smashing success! We are already looking forward to seeing everyone join us next year!

Join wegginarâ„¢ presenter and MEM student Katie Kollhoff, CEO, NUMiX, as MEM Director Mark Werwath, PhD, PMP moderates a discussion about women in entrepreneurship. This is an exciting event as we collaborate with Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global (WEGG)!

Monthly Feature Recognizing our Amazing Students & Alumni

Ian Wiese recently wrote a personal blog about his MEM experience; "I've realized that the MEM program truly does retrain your brain how to look at, relate to, and analyze the world around you."  Ian earned a Bachelor's in Materials Science and Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and is currently the Production Control Manager at Chicago Extruded Metals (CXM).  His blog describes the immediate impact courses such as Operations Excellence and Strategic Management have had on his career.  To read more about Ian's personal MEM journey check out the blog article.

David Platt, originally from Mount Prospect, IL, is a '00 alum of the Northwestern MEM program and an active member of the MEM Industry Advisory Board. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI  and is currently the Vice President of Operations / Engineering and Global Quality Assurance at Hu-Friedy Manufacturing Company.
