10th Annual Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race
Online Registration Ends October 2nd

The Apple Harvest Day 5K Road Race, sponsored by Wentworth Health Partners-Seacoast Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Center for Orthopedics & Joint Replacement, kicks off the Seacoast's premier autumn street festival. The 5K Road Race starts on River Street and ends on Washington Street in downtown Dover. The USTAF certified course runs directly through the Apple Harvest Day festival site on Washington Street and Central Avenue, and then winds through historic Dover on a rolling course that is suitable for beginner runners and walkers, as well as advanced racers. The AHD 5K Road Race is directed by
No Finish Line Running and is part of the
Dover Road Race Series.

'Night, Mother won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Thelma "Mama" Cates, is an aging widow who lives on an isolated country road with her daughter, Jessie. Jessie is divorced, unemployed and suffers from depression as she struggles through life. After Jessie finds her father's old revolver, she tells Mama that she is going to kill herself. The subsequent interaction and conversation reveals some old secrets - and many bottled-up feelings emerge from both women. The play centers on a powerful mother-daughter relationship which becomes stronger than ever as Jessie continues to contemplate her harrowing decision. Directed by Dave Costa.
The play aims to raise awareness of suicide prevention; after each performance, a panel of professionals will be available to answer questions on this difficult topic.

at 10:30a.m. The Cemetery Tour begins at the Pine Hill Cemetery Chapel and includes a history of Dover's burial grounds, and anecdotal stories as you visit the graves of people who were part of Dover's history.

"Art is Central" Opens at the Thom Hindle Gallery

The Woodman Museum, now in its 102nd season of serving the Seacoast community, is proudly unveiling "Art is Central," an exhibition devoted to the work of prolific Dover artist Ted Reynolds, opening on October 10 from 6-9pm. Reynold's work has been featured in hotels and restaurants in Washington, D.C. and New York City. He was also a fashion illustrator.Also on display will be items from the museum's permanent collection that highlight the artistic contributions of local craftspeople and artists, including works by furniture painter George Folsom, silversmith Charles Bacon and painter Margaret Sundeen.

6th Annual Trick or Trot 5K & Kids Fun Run

Shaws Lane, Dover
A fundraiser for the DMS PTA, the race will begin at Shaws Lane, in Dover, New Hampshire at
8:15am with the Kids Fun Run; all children in costume will receive a spooky treat. At
9:00am, the 5K race will begin; medals and cash prices for the top three male and female finishers will be awarded.
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the DMS student experience by funding field trips, equipment and supplies for the nurse's office, library, and wellness departments. In addition, funds raised will support materials for all classrooms, recess supplies, and special programs like the anti-bullying program, Safe Kids Strong Teens and other activities that benefit DMS students.

Opera House Holding Auditions for New Musical
Sunday, September 30th, 6-10pm
Rochester Performing Arts Center, 32 North Main Street, Rochester
The Rochester Opera House will hold auditions for its upcoming production of a musical that takes place on a Greek island featuring the music of ABBA! Callbacks will happen on Monday, October 1st and held at the Governor's Inn in Rochester. The show will be produced by Anthony Ejarque and directed by Stephen Small, with musical direction by Kathy Fink.
Show dates are January 11 - 27, 2019. Performances will be on Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 2:00 and 7:30 and Sundays at 2:00. There will be a condensed, intensive rehearsal process beginning on December 1st straight through to opening night on January 11th.

Quilting, Dyeing, and Card Making Classes at Dover Adult Learning Center
Make something beautiful at Dover Adult Learning Center! Upcoming creative classes include "T-shirt Quilting" where you will learn how to take that multitude of T-shirts collecting in your closet and turn them into a wonderful memory quilt. This a three-part series of planning and preparing, creating the quilt, finishing and binding; each class will teach you the techniques you will need to complete the work on your quilt at home in order to be prepared for the next step. Classes are Thursdays, October 4, October 25, and November 15, 6:00-8:00pm. Or try "Shibori Dyeing with Indigo," and learn the Japanese technique of stitching or folding and dyeing natural fabrics to create beautiful patterns. Class includes all materials to dye a yard of fabric (supplied) but you can bring one or two 100% cotton or linen items additionally to dye; Saturday, October 6, 11:00am-2:00pm. Add your creativity and personal touch to the cards you send to loved ones in "Making Personalized Greeting Cards."
