Sat, October 13, 12–6pm :: Central Ave @ Whalley & Fountain

Westville is excited to host six artists in temporary studios housed in PODS storage containers on Central Avenue! Artists Janet Brodie, Colin Burke, Jacquelyn Gleisner + Ryan Paxton (Pictured right), Sarah Schneiderman and Sara Zunda will transform their PODs into small galleries, while lmmaker Travis Carbonella will transform his POD into a miniature theater.
FLAIR FAIR
Sat, October 13, 11am–4pm, Lyric Hall, 827 Whalley Ave

Focusing on small pieces of wearable and collectible art, Flair Fair celebrates the modern resurgence of pins, patches, buttons and more. Discover independent artists and designers selling a ordable, unique items for your wardrobe and home. Pin and patch culture has reached cult-like status, and many visitors use these events as a way to share, collect, trade and connect with their favorite makers and fellow fans.

BLOCK PARTY & BEER GARDEN
Sat, October 13, 6:30–9pm, Central Ave @ Whalley & Fountain

The beer garden returns, featuring the salsa, merengue and bachata of Carlos Y Su Monemento Musical! Free and open to the public. Alisa's House of Salsa will also be doing a Salsa Demo in conjunction with the band!

Rhythm Brewing Co. and New England Brewing will be serving the beer. 21 and over: wristbands for beer are $15 in advance, purchase online at westvillect. org; $20 at the door. 

LITERARY HAPPY HOUR

During this year's CWOS Westville, 12 of our artists will be exhibiting work in a pop-up group show, and will be on-site to talk with visitors.

From October 6th to November 3rd, Cohen Dunne Hermosilla will be showing their newest series of photographs. Cohen Dunne Hermosilla are showing Transantiago - dedicated to the experience of humanity in the public transport system of Santiago Chile. Cohen Dunne Hermosilla (CDH) is a collective of photographers based in New Haven, CT & Santiago, Chile established to show an international audience social, economic and cultural changes to the city of Santiago from an aesthetic perspective. ACTIVE WELLNESS HOLISTIC FITNESS PRESENTS MARTHA SAVAGE "WORKING TOGETHER"

Acrylic paintings by Martha Savage made between March 2017 and September 2018 will be on display at her studio, 909 Whalley Avenue and concurrently at Active Wellness Boutique Fitness, 16 Fountain Street, October 13 and 14, and extended through January at Active Wellness. The artwork reflects autobiographical and everyday sights using striking color, shape and viewpoint in a semi-abstract style. In addition, the artist creates one-of-a-kind, unique collage, mixed media greeting cards for a variety of occasions and views.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN STUDENT EXHIBITION AT MITCHELL LIBRARY

The art and design students at the University of New Haven will present a selection of curated works inside the Mitchell Branch Library for the Westville Open Studios weekend.

This curated show will feature works from art and design students at the University of New Haven, including the Lyme College of Fine Arts campus.

GIANT PUPPET + PEOPLE MAKING MAYHEM WORKSHOPS AND PARADE ON OCTOBER 28

WORKSHOPS START ON OCTOBER 10, 4:00-7:00PM
Join us for this years Puppet Making Workshops and Parade! The Parade takes place on Sunday, October 28, 11:00am. Workshops will take place at the Ranger Station located at 540 Edgewood Ave, New Haven, CT 06511.


Dates: October 10, 14, 17, 21, 24, 26, and 27. Workshops on a weekday are 4:00-7:00pm and when on Sundays 12:00-3:00pm.
