September 2018

As Naramata Centre's busiest time draws to a close and we settle into autumn, we are grateful for the grace of a slower pace and the beauty of this season. But, we are not idle! Planning for 2019 has begun, our Fall Hearts and Hands
event approaches and the Centre is being tidied up for winter.

Ahhh, Autumn!

Attention Program Leaders - Act Now!
If you are interested in leading
a program in 2019, let us know by September 30 by  submitting an Expression of Interest. Visit our programs page here and
tell us in a few words about your program idea, using the simple form provided.

We are seeking programs that nourish mind, body and spirit, while complementing the unique community-building experience of Naramata Centre. Do you have a program idea you have been toying with? Are you eager to lead a program that nourishes mind, body and/or spirit?

Expressions of Interest will be shortlisted and potential program leaders will be contacted in mid-October to provide a more detailed program pitch. To avoid missing out, submit your proposal now!

We will finish work the afternoon of Sunday, October 14, with Monday, October 15 reserved for cleaning and departure. If you can come for the full week - thank you! Or, if you can come for only a few days or some portion of this time - thank you! Local volunteers are invited to join us for any days they are available.

Participants are welcome to join in a potluck Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, October 7, and to attend the Naramata Community's Long Table dinner on Sunday, October 14 (see details in the next article).

Naramata Slow Harvest Dinner
October 14, 3 - 6 pm
Photo: Jenne Newman
Naramata Centre's Columbia Hall will once again be the site of the Naramata Slow Harvest Dinner. This event occurs as our Hearts and Hands event concludes,  so if
you are volunteering that week, consider coming
for dinner!

Guests are asked to  bring a dish to share potluck style, using ingredients raised or sourced from the local Naramata area.  If you wish to share your garden preserves, bring a jar to swap for another.

Once again, a highlight of the dinner will be locally raised,
slow-roasted pork provided by Bella Homestead Farm. The long-table dinner will also showcase selected local wines available for tasting and purchase.

Naramata resident and Centre Board member, Jim Simpson, says "The Centre's vision of "Welcoming community: where people of all ages are valued for who they are" resonates well with the values of the Naramata CittaSlow community. We are excited to be part of this event where we can celebrate the bounty of the harvest and the gifts of this land."

Event tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children. Find tickets online at Eventbrite here  or in limited quantities at the Naramata Store. To avoid disappointment, purchase your tickets soon!

Gratitude
Roswitha Masson  provided free Wednesday morning yoga all summer for Centre guests and the wider Naramata Community. Her yoga sessions on the beach lawn were always well attended, and our guests really appreciated the value Roswitha's yoga added to their week's stay. Thank you, Roswitha, for offering your gifts and your ongoing support of Naramata Centre!

Keri Wehlander  has offered her skills, gifts and heart throughout the year as a Program Leader in the spring, a Community Host / Spiritual Lead (4 times!) in the summer, and continuously volunteered her time to support Naramata Centre staff, provide mentorship to our Summer Interns, weed in the gardens and just be a friend to the Centre. Thank you so much, Keri, for your kindness, shoulder and blessings!
