Welcome to our Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) quarterly newsletter. The goal in producing this newsletter is to keep our members informed and involved. We are highlighting opportunities for collaborations, new funding opportunities, new grants and promotions, new personnel, and upcoming seminars and events. Charles Senteio, PhD, MBA, LCSW, Assistant Professor, Rutgers University School of Communications and Information, Department of Library and Information Science, presented a Research in Progress Meeting at the Rutgers School of Public Health in Piscataway, NJ. His presentation was entitled, "Developing Technology-Enabled Tools to Help Prepare Recently Diagnosed African American Prostate Cancer Patients for Conversation with their Physicians." Kathryn Greene, PhD, presented at the 12th Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health in Arlington, VA. Her presentation was entitled, "Implementation of an E-Learning Intervention to Prevent Youth Substance Use in the 4-H Organization: Does Leader Involvement Influence Club Member Engagement?"

Carolyn Heckman, PhD, presented a poster at the APHA 2019 Annual Meeting and Expo in Philadelphia, PA. Her presentation was entitled, "Cost Reach, and Representativeness of Recruitment Efforts for an Online Cancer Prevention Intervention Trial." 

Jennifer Tsui, PhD, MPH, presented posters entitled, "Impact of Body Weight on Adult Hispanic Breast and Colorectal Cancer Survivors' Health-Related Quality of Life," "Factors that Influence Healthcare Provider REcommendation of HPV Vaccination," and an oral presentation entitled, "Longitudinal Trends in Geographic Access to Healthcare Facilties Across Neighborhoods in the United States: Data from the National Establishment Time-Series 2000-2014."

Update from the Population Science Research Support Shared Resource

The Population Science Research Support shared resource works with researchers to provide expertise and technical support in the following areas:

(1) Subject recruitment (contact subjects, collect data, conduct interviews);
(2) setting-up online surveys in DatStat, RedCap, Qualtrics and training staff to administer them; and
(3) setting-up infrastructure for longitudinal and randomized trial recruitment on DatStat and RedCap and training staff.
