Graphic designer, Kelly Geniott, will present two hand-lettering classes  at the LW Public Library during the month of November .
 
Kelly will teach Find Your Style, 2 p.m., November 10. Discover your own personal hand lettering style with her guidance. Hand lettering is a basic element in crafting, card making, scrapbooking and journaling.
 
Each participant in this one-hour class will receive a practice packet that can be used at home.
 
Chalk Workshop takes us through the tools and techniques to create great chalkboard lettering layouts and embellishments. Chalk Workshop begins at 6 p.m., November 13. Each participant will receive a kit of chalkboard tools to help you become a wonderful chalkboard artists!
 
A $5 supply fee is required for each class. Class size is limited. Please call 678-4004, extension 221, for more information, or visit the Lake Wales Public Library to register.

Featuring "Alligators In Florida Culture" by Jeff Klinkenberg

Few states have a relationship with an animal in the way that Florida does with the alligator. Whether it's a school mascot, being wrestled at a tourist attraction, or sunbathing on a golf course, these reptiles are ubiquitous to our state. After hearing Jeff Klinkenberg's lecture, and watching his accompanying video, you'll agree that there can be no Florida without alligators. Free to the public. Light refreshments.

November Local Artist Gallery

During the month of November the LW Public Library will feature the watercolor paintings of local artist, Richard Ragno.

His paintings will remain on display through November 30.   Our Local Artist Gallery is open during regular library hours.  

Cabinet of Curiosity

The Lake Wales Museum has created the Cabinet of Curiosity in the Lake Wales Public Library's main lobby.  The Cabinet of Curiosity contains examples of unusual items from the Lake Wales Museum's collection and our local history.  New items will frequently rotate into the Cabinet of Curiosity.

The Lake Wales Public Library's Holiday Food for Fines begins November 1 and continues through December 31.  Overdue fines and fees can be 'paid' with a donation of 5 non-perishable food or household items, per library card.  

Payment of lost or damaged materials is not accepted with a food donation.  

All donations will benefit the Lake Wales Care Center's Holiday Food Baskets and Food Pantry.  For a recommended list of items needed for the Holiday Food Basket call or visit the Lake Wales Public Library, 678-4004, extension 221.

Work & Clean Up Morning

The oppressive heat seems to be subsiding.  It's feeling like fall is in the air.

The Lake Wales Public Library's Community Garden needs a "sprucing up".  

Volunteers are invited to join us at 8 a.m., November 8 to weed, trim, mulch and clean up the Lake Wales Public Library's Community Garden.

Patron Appreciation Week

During the month of giving thanks our library wants to express our gratitude to our patrons for their support and kindness.

Tuesday, November 13 through Saturday, November 17 the Lake Wales Library Association - Friends of the Library will sponsor the 3rd annual Patron Appreciation Week.  

Each day of the week customers will be treated to a small gift, token or free service to express our gratitude.  Additionally, two winners, one adult and one child/teen, will be drawn and awarded a gift card donated by the LW Library Association - Friends of the Library.  

Thank you to our wonderful patrons and to the Lake Wales Library Association members.  We are proud to have your support.


New Teen Programs at Lake Wales Public Library

The Lake Wales Public Library's Youth Services Department invites local teens to exciting new, and relevant programming.  

Teen Specialist, Amanda McCallister, has scheduled classes and programs including College Preparation Academy, Anime Club, Teen Book Clubs and Adulting 101.

We're listening to teens.  These programs have been recommended and requested by teens.
