Tricks, Treats and a Time Change!

Trick or Treat Street
This Wednesday, keep an eye out for stray little monsters and super heroes looking for candy hand-outs! Washington Avenue will be closed between 11th and 14th Streets from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. to give our local trick-or-treating kiddos a safe area to rake in the goods from area merchants. But as the sun goes down and the street opens back up, please keep your speeds low and watch for little ones still out and about.

Here's a treat for the whole community - tonight is the Mayor's Community Celebration and everyone is invited! The guest speaker, John O'Leary, is certain to inspire with his story of survival and perseverance. Keep reading below for more on tonight's annual celebration, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at the CSM Student Center.

As a final note, don't forget, this Sunday, November 4 at 2 a.m. Daylight Saving Time ends, so change your clocks the night before and enjoy that extra hour of sleep. Be sure to also change the batteries in your smoke and CO detectors.

Have a spooktacular week, everyone!

What should go in the next time capsule?

That's the question we need help answering! On November 11, the contents of a time capsule buried in front of City Hall in 1968 on the 50-year anniversary of the Amistice that ended WWI will be revealed and a new time capsule for the people of 2068 will replace it.

The time capsule should be a snapshot of the world in 2018. What does that mean to you?

We would love to get some fresh ideas from our residents. Please go to GuidingGolden.com/time-capsule, sign in, and start brainstorming! We have some great ideas already, but we would love more. The deadline has been extended to November 1 to give us your ideas.
