St. Louis Catholic School Newsletter
OCTOBER 26, 2018
A Message from the Principal...
Dear St. Louis Families,

I am excited to share great news with our school community! We have just received word from the state that Saint Louis School has been selected to receive the 2018 Purple Star Designation , which awards schools dedicated to excellence and commitment in working with students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces. We are one of the first schools in Virginia to receive this distinguished honor. In the coming days we will be receiving a Resolution of Recognition from the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on the Educational Opportunity of Military Children (The Council), an award coin, and a purple star seal to hang proudly in our school. We look forward to celebrating this honor at our Veteran’s Day Mass and Reception on November 9 th . Congratulations to all of our staff and families for your wonderful efforts to support military families, and a huge thank you to the many St. Louis families who serve our nation’s military.

Just a reminder that Parent-teacher conferences will be held on November 5th and 6th, so teachers are sending home your child's conference time form in folders today and next week. Please be sure to send those back so that teachers can properly prepare for conference days. We look forward to meeting with you as we work together!

Next week brings Halloween (and all the excitement that comes with it!), joyously followed by the holy day, All Saints Day, on November 1st. We will be having a school Mass at 8:45am that morning, and we look forward to having our 2nd graders process into and out of Mass as their patron saints! We will still have a regular school Mass at 8:45am on Friday, Nov. 2 nd (All Souls Day).

Have a wonderful weekend!

Peace,

Kathleen McNutt
Principal

Open House Tour Guides Needed
St. Louis School will be opening its doors to prospective families on Sunday, Nov. 11, 10am-1pm and Tuesday, Nov. 13, 9-11am. Especially needed are tour guides with middle school experience. If you have been at St. Louis 3+ years, enjoy meeting new people and would like to volunteer to be a tour guide, please contact Kristin Matheis at development@stlouisschool.org by November 1st. Hours will count toward your volunteer hours; VIRTUS not required.
Veteran's Day Mass
Veteran’s Day is approaching and we are preparing for our annual Veteran’s Day Mass. We hope you will consider joining us for this very special liturgy recognizing the importance of our veterans, both living and deceased. The Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 9, 2018 at 8:45 AM. If you would like to participate in the Mass, please see the attached flyer for more information.
