AUGUST IS BREASTFEEDING AWARENESS MONTH!
August is National and World Breastfeeding Awareness Month, and experts and mothers from more than 170 countries agree: Breast milk is best when it comes to feeding a baby in the first year of life.  Breastfeeding creates a special, close, emotional bond; provides essential, balanced nutrients; is cost-effective; and offers short- and long-term health benefits for both babies and mothers.  Visit www.breastfeedsjc.org to learn more about the importance of breastfeeding and to connect to local resources.

Black Breastfeeding Week is August 25-31
Breastfeeding disparities exist. Black infants are 15 percent less likely to have ever been breastfed than white infants. Boosting breastfeeding support is important for black women and their children because it can improve their own health outcomes and mortality. Learn more.

SCREEN TIME DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS

CENSUS 2020 SPOTLIGHT - THE FINAL PUSH
The final push for Census 2020 to count every household is underway. Census takers began knocking on doors beginning August 11 to ensure no person goes uncounted. US Census Bureau will end field data collection by September 30, 2020. Self-response options will also close on that date to permit the commencement of data processing. This means there are less than two months left for this once in a decade effort that secures billions in funding for programs and infrastructure and secures federal representation in Congress. Click here for helpful messaging resources to support your efforts to get the word out!
