ANNOUNCEMENTS
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2018
  • Buy your yearbook! It's a great time to order a yearbook. Prices will increase later in the year so now is the time to get the best price! It's also a good idea to consider buying a yearbook ad now. Ads tend to sell out, so it's better to reserve your space sooner than later! Visit yearbookforever.com to order.
  • NO SCHOOL Fri., Sept. 28 due to a school inservice day.
  • The Green Acres Road sidewalk and drainage project is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 8. Please be aware of this during drop-off and pick-up, and use extreme caution when in the work area and watch for personnel and equipment.
  • Anytime you change phone numbers or address, please notify someone in our front office as soon as possible. If you have moved to a different address, you must bring in one of the following to show your new address: gas bill, water bill, or electric bill. Whichever proof you bring in, it must show your name and the new service address on it. If you are renting/leasing, we can take a copy of your agreement as long as your name and address are on it.
  • October is National Farm to School Month! FPS Child Nutrition invites you to join your student for a locally-sourced lunch made with ingredients from farms and small businesses in Arkansas. If you plan to join your student, please let the school know in advance. Guest meals cost $3.60, payable at check out. If you have any questions, please contact the Child Nutrition Department at 479-684-5091. Check out the flyer for more details about the menu.

Pink out! Show your support by wearing pink to the game. Pink ribbons will be available for 50 cents during advisory and lunch.

Woodland Students Begin Literacy Events

Through an investment by Tyson Foods and Fayetteville Public Education Foundation, our students at Woodland and Ramay will begin literacy events that will encourage them to become more engaged in reading.

Students will read The Crossover, a novel by Kwame Alexander that mixes basketball with family and coming-of-age themes to tell an uplifting story. The project will culminate with a school SKYPE presentation by Alexander in November to discuss his book with students.

We want to make sure all students (7th and 8th) are provided a copy of The Crossover to keep and take home. Please consider making a gift to ensure all Ramay and Woodland students have their own copy!

Health Fair Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to assist with the 8th grade health fair next Thurs., Oct. 4.  The health fair consists of vision, hearing, scoliosis, and BMI screenings. We will begin around 9:00 a.m. and end close to 3:30 p.m.  Volunteers will help with measuring height, weight, color vision screening, and crowd control. Sign up at the link below!

If you are available for all or portions, please consider signing up for more than one slot and commenting with your availability. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the school nurse, Kristen Scott, at [email protected].
Outreach Clothing & Hygiene Drive
Each year, Woodland's PTO Outreach Committee maintains a clothing, school supply, and hygiene closet to support some of our students-in-need throughout the school year. They will be replenishing and bulking up on items in high demand during the winter months.

If you are able to contribute, hygiene donations should be in new packaging, and clothing items should be new or gently used. Clothing should be items 7th and 8th graders would typically wear. Guidelines can be found at the sign-up link below.

Drop-off will begin during morning drop-off Mon., Oct. 1 and end Tues., Oct. 16. You may also bring items to the front office during regular office hours, Mon.-Fri., 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Shanda Sloan at [email protected] or Michelle Kieklak at [email protected].
