UI alum finds success on opera stages around the world
When Kyle Ketelsen (BA '95) got to the UI campus in 1991, he didn't have a major. About three weeks into the semester, he decided to audition for the vocal faculty to take voice lesson. Now, he is in regular demand by the world's leading opera companies and orchestras.  Read more.  
43 countries represented by Class of 2022    
The Class of 2022 is composed of 4,806 students from 43 countries (including the U.S.). The new undergraduate students topped previous records in achievement with a higher average high school GPA, at 3.71, than any previous class.  Read more. 
 
Last summer, a group of nearly 70 students completed internships abroad-allowing them to gain relevant, global experience while strengthening their intercultural communication skills, building confidence and adaptability, and becoming more proficient in a second language. Read more.   
 
Art students travel world in pursuit of discovery

For the third consecutive year, UI's John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) welcomed 25 Mandela Washington Fellows from Sub-Saharan African countries to the University of Iowa to learn about U.S. entrepreneurship and promote international dialogue. Read more.  
 
UI researchers study megathrust earthquakes
The researchers hope their monitoring and modeling of the Main Himalayan Thrust will yield new approaches to studying subduction zones embedded beneath the oceans, where nearly all megathrust earthquakes-including the ones affecting Indonesia and Japan-have occurred. Read more.
