Early Registration Deadline Approaching for 11th Annual J/Fest Southwest Regatta
Seabrook, TX: Lakewood Yacht Club (LYC), in conjunction with J/Boats Southwest and Bay Access Sailing Foundation, will host the 2020 J/Fest Southwest Regatta Oct. 10-11.

J/Boat owners and crew from around the country and beyond will gather in Galveston Bay to enjoy the beautiful fall weather and mild temperatures that the Texas Gulf Coast affords. This year's race will mark the 11th Annual J/Fest Southwest Regatta, which often brings 70 or more boats to Seabrook.

While this year's pandemic conditions will make the regatta a little more challenging, organizers promise that the on-the-water racing will make for a fun event. LYC, the event host, is complying with all state, county and U.S. Sailing COVID-19 guidelines.

J/Boats are renown for their performance yachts ranging from 22’ and 65’ in length and built in a variety of designs for cruising, day-sailing and racing.

The regatta entry fee is $95 for all classes except for the J/Distance Class, which will be $75. A $5 discount is available to U.S. Sailing members. Early Registration ends Aug. 17, while Regular Registration will end Oct. 3rd.

Visit www.jfestsouthwest.com to register.

Lakewood Yacht Club will have trailer storage available. A discounted rate for launch and haul is available, courtesy of Seabrook Shipyard, to sailors from out of town. Seabrook has several overnight accommodations available that are offering discounted rates for racers and guests. Seabrook and its surrounding areas also provide local attractions such as Space Center Houston, dining and amusements at the Kemah Boardwalk, walking trails in Seabrook, or touring the Armand Bayou Nature Center. For information, visit www.seabrooktx.gov.

Sponsors for this year's event include the Lakewood Yacht Club, City of Seabrook, J/Boats Southwest, Quantum Sails, KO Sailing, UK Sailmakers, Bay Access Sailing Foundation, Blackburn Marine, Bay Area Houston Magazine, North Sails, Mariner Magazine, Seabrook Shipyard, and David Marine Electronics.
