"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future"
Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
December 2018

Today I sat with a 42 year old woman as she cried.  She is a widow of two years now with eight children.  One is in high school and another will begin this year.  Her father that was helping her passed away about six months ago.  It is so difficult to listen to these problems that are very real.  She said she could barely get enough food together for one meala day as there has been no rain and there is no food.  As she cried in my office, I cried with her.  Please pray for these people who are so poverty stricken. These are some of our community ladies who attend our weekly women's Bible study. Many are widowed or abandoned and many are caring for their grandchildren and other family members while not really able to even care for their own families.

The latest statistics report that 56% of the total population of Uganda is under the age of 15. Unemployment is at 82% (jobs are very hard to find), 62% of the total population is illiterate, over 2,000,000 children are malnourished, and more that are orphaned.  Only 40% ever make it to high school, and most drop out in the first two years.  Only 12% make it past the ordinary level (first 4 years) to the advance 2 levels.  At times I feel overwhelmed and need your prayers.

Just 2 years ago we shared with you about one of our young graduates who had just begun a career as a telecommunications engineer. Andrew's life was cut short suddenly by undiagnosed kidney disease. Sadly, we now must share that his brother, Henry, has recently become very ill, discovering that he suffers from the same illness. We ask for your prayers for   Henry as treatment options are limited.  We are

trusting in God's grace for Henry, his wife and two young children. Also pray for Henry's 14 siblings who could potentially unknowingly carry the same illness. Until he became sick, Henry was working in a good job as a mechanic for Toyota in the city of
Kampala. Here he is with Esther at their marriage introduction.

Thank you all for your faithful support and prayers. We are truly blessed to have you as a part of us.     Katherine

Christmas
in Uganda

Thank you to all who gave for us to have a successful Christmas celebration with 2,000 sponsored and community
children and to our Orphan's Heart team as well as our staff and youth who volunteered to make it all a big success.

Sponsors Needed
Gloria W                            Age: 15
Gloria's father is mentally ill and her mother abandoned her with Gloria's grandparents who still have 7 children of their own at home and have a very limited income of about $20/mo. with which to support the family.

Through sponsorship Gloria is attending school at a Christian boarding school about 2 hours away. She has been an average student but has struggled because of poor feeding and care in her early years. She enjoys school and is trying hard to improve. Gloria says she loves Jesus and she enjoys church, Sunday school and AWANA. She is so fun loving and she enjoys everyone around her.

Because one of Gloria's partial sponsors is unable to continue their support and she will be moving to secondary or vocational training this year she is in need of a sponsor at $60/mo. Sponsorship will offer schooling as well a meet basic, medical and spiritual needs for this young girl as God works in her life to change it to His glory.   Help Gloria Now
