How is this different from what was planned?
Each meeting will be focused on one of the five topic areas rather than working on all of the topic areas at the same time in breakout groups.
Our meeting last Wednesday, October 24th was held with this new format and the CAC went through all the Parks and Natural Resources draft policies and revised them. Working group members were also able to contribute to the policy writing. In order to have a meeting dedicated to each of the five topic areas, we had to schedule some additional meetings this November.
The upcoming meetings are listed as Community Advisory Committee meetings, are they open to working group members?
Yes! These meetings are open to anyone who is interested. For example, if you wrote draft policies for a topic area, please come provide your input.
What will happen at these upcoming topic-specific meetings?
CAC members will go through each goal under that topic area and, as a group, they will revise the draft policies. CAC members will point out areas of overlap between the different topic areas. Technical Advisory Committee members will be on hand to provide expertise and guidance.
When will all working group members meet again?
At the beginning of December we will bring together all of the working group members, Technical Advisory Committee members, and Community Advisory Committee members. This meeting will be a chance to look over the complete set of draft goals and policies to make sure they reflect neighborhood priorities and aspirations, and to identify any remaining gaps.
Will this affect the project timeline?
When we mapped out the big milestones at the beginning of the project, we planned on having a well-vetted set of draft policies to present back to the larger community by the end of Fall 2018. Many of our CAC and working group members felt that this didn't feel like enough time to create a comprehensive set of policies. In response to this concern, we are allowing more time for the policy-writing phase and will aim to have a set of final draft goals and policies at the end of January 2019.
