Chief's Corner

Welcome to the September/October edition of  The Dispatch , the Rancho Cordova Police Department's (RCPD) e-newsletter.

Last month, we experienced the loss of my colleague and a member of our community, Rancho Cordova Police Officer/Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Stasyuk. Officer Stasyuk was passionate about serving our community, well-loved by residents, and is greatly missed.

We have all been hurting from losing Officer Stasyuk, and you showed your thoughtful and heartfelt support in a number of ways. You delivered messages, food, cards, flowers and other mementos to the police department. You held events to honor Officer Stasyuk and to raise funds to support the Stasyuk family through the Deputy Mark Stasyuk Memorial Fund. You tied blue ribbons on trees in front of your homes and businesses. You attended the memorial services and lined the streets for the funeral procession.

I wanted you to know that we felt the care and concern you have for Officer Stasyuk and our RCPD Officers. We are very proud  to serve you, and I want to personally thank you for your support.

Chief of Police Chris Pittman

Crime Suppression Unit

Story of the Month
On September 7, 2018, RCPD Officers assigned to the Crime Suppression Unit obtained information that an individual with an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest and on Post-Release Community Supervision was staying in the City of Rancho Cordova. Officers, in partnership with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Gang Suppression Unit, located 26-year-old Ty Clayton of Sacramento staying at a local hotel in Rancho Cordova. Officers saw Clayton leave his hotel room and get into a vehicle, and they arrested him. During a search of Clayton and his hotel room, officers found a large amount of narcotics and an illegal handgun that wasn't registered to him. Officers booked Clayton at the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple charges.
