IMPORTANT INFORMATION 4-H Programming and COVID-19

Due to concerns with the spread of COVID-19, Colorado State University Extension and Arapahoe County has suspended all face-to-face programming, events, and workshops with external participants until further notice. The decision is based on what public health experts say is the best course of action to attempt to dampen transmission rates.  Please note that these recommendations are constantly evolving, and we will do our best to communicate with everyone any changes moving forward. Please be patient with us as we continue to receive information and figure out how to continue to provide 4-H educational opportunities in Arapahoe County. Effective immediately, all 4-H club meetings, contests, clinics, and workshops are suspended until further notice. This includes: Creative Cooks Contest Speech and Demo Contest Dog Practices Horse Open Riding Shooting Sports Leader Training and Youth Practices Any Club Meetings, Club Functions, Community Service, and Project Workshops As we navigate through this together, we want to thank you for your patience and understanding. We understand that this can be difficult. We have a strong 4-H program with wonderful 4-H families and incredible leaders. Please feel free to reach out to the 4-H staff if you have any questions. We will do our best to answer your questions. At this time, the Extension Office is maintaining normal business hours (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM– Monday through Friday).

Registration is available for the Arapahoe County Cake Decorating Contest happening May 22nd! This contest is open to Cloverbuds & 4-H members who are enrolled in the Cake Decorating Project. Market Beef State Fair Nomination Deadlines Thank you to all who showed up and made the Market Beef Tag-In go so smoothly! Just a quick reminder about State Fair Market Steer Nominations. The office will start getting scans attached and those forms will be sent out to the State Fair office. Livestock Judging Opportunity Attention Arapahoe County 4-H Members! We are looking for members interested in Arapahoe County 4-H forming our own Livestock Judging Team! Laddy Trehal has expressed interest in being a coach if youth want to participate. There will be chances to compete at both the county and state level. This can be a great resume builder as well as opportunities to earn college scholarships and compete on a collegiate livestock judging team! Superintendent Search As fair is quickly approaching, the Arapahoe County 4-H Livestock Advisory Committee is seeking interested individuals to serve as the Llama/Alpaca and Poultry Superintendents.   The Livestock Committee provides advice, program support, visibility, resource generation, and assists in upholding county, state, and national policies in support of the Arapahoe County 4-H Youth Development Program. They assist with coordination, promotion, and scheduling of events, activities, and shows in Arapahoe County with the CSU 4-H Livestock & Youth Development Extension agent as well as other responsibilities as outlined in committee bylaws. This is specifically accomplished by serving as superintendents at the County Fair although all members on the committee do not have to be superintendents.   We would like to invite anyone interested in being part of the committee to contact Ethan at the CSU Extension Office via email at ecahill@arapahoegov.com . The committee meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Byers Ag Shop at 7 p.m.
