The MPO area boundary has changed and we will have to update our maps and documents to include the added area.

In the new area boundary agreement between Harlingen-San Benito Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Brownsville Metropolitan Planning Organization, the HSBMPO has assumed the responsibility of continuing and completing the widening of US 281 project.

The 2019-2022 TIP has been revised to reflect the comments/suggestion from TxDOT, change the Transit TIP as requested by Valley Metro, and to update the MPO Boundary Map. The updated documents can be viewed at

This project consists of a new roadway connecting the South Parallel Corridor from FM 509 to FM 1577. Proposed typical sections will be given out at a later date. The current estimated cost is $7,500,001. This project has a tentative letting date of June 2021.
2. Stuart Place Road – Sidewalks CSJ: 0921-06-311 New Construction
This project consists of the construction of new 5 to 6 ft. sidewalks from .18 miles North of Primera Rd. to FM 2994/Wilson Rd. The current estimated cost is $525,392. This project has a tentative letting date of April 2020.
3. SH 107 CSJ: 0342-03-037 Reconstruction
This project consists of the reconstruction of SH 107 to 4 lanes from Louisiana St. to Hooks E. Hodges St. The current estimated cost is $10,185,300. This project has a tentative letting date of Jan. 2021.
4. FM 509 Extension CSJ: 0921-06-254
This project consists of a 2 lane rural roadway extension of FM 509 from FM 508 to FM 1599. The current estimated cost is 6,600,000. This project has a tentative letting date of Jan. 2021.
5. IH-69E CSJ: 0327-08-092
This project consists of the reversal of northbound ramps on IH 69E from Industrial Blvd to Loop 499. The current estimated cost is 2,758,554. This project has a tentative letting date of Jan. 2021.
6. SL 499 CSJ: 1137-02-038
This project consists of the construction of a 6 lane roadway with a raised median from IH-69E to SS206. The current estimated cost is 15,000,000. This project has a tentative letting date of May 2021.
7. BUS 77 CSJ: 0039-12-254
This project consists of the construction of a raised median from Commerce St. to Arroyo Bridge. The current estimated cost is $708,434. This project has a tentative letting date of May 2021.
8. BUS 77 CSJ: 0327-08-098
This project consists of the construction of a raised median from FM 507 to Commerce Street. The current estimated cost is $5,101,566. This project has a tentative letting date of May 2021.
9. Teege Rd. Bridge & Approaches CSJ: 0921-06-302, etc
This project consists of the reconstruction of the bridge and approaches that are located 0.3 miles west of Junction IH-69E. The current estimated cost is $375,000. This project has a tentative letting date of June 2021.
10. FM 1846 Rehabilitation CSJ: 1065-02-039
This project consists of the rehabilitation of FM 1846 from San Jose Ranch to Business 77. The current estimated cost is $1,864,509. This project has a tentative letting date of November 2021.
11. Spur 54 Widening CSJ: 0039-20-008
This project consists of the widening of Spur 54 from Chester Park Rd. to IH-69E SB Frontage Rd. The current estimated cost is $7,341,446. This project has a tentative letting date of April 2021.

Transportation Research Board (TRB)
The Transportation Research Board (TRB) 98th Annual Meeting will be held January 13–17, 2019, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, in Washington, D.C. The information-packed program is expected to attract more than 13,000 transportation professionals from around the world.
