Proposed Changes at AAUW National
Education requirement
The national election ballot will be open for you to vote from April 7 - May 17, 2021. The AAUW National Board of Directors has proposed that the education requirement for membership should be eliminated. We were informed at a virtual National “Town Hall” that all the National leadership as well as every National Board member support this initiative. You can read more about the proposal and the “for” and “against” comments on the National website.
National Dues Increase
National dues will increase this year by $3.00. This increase will help AAUW National to continue to support its Priority Issues of Removing Bias from Education, Fighting for Fair Pay & Economic Equity, and Advancing Women in Leadership. Please continue your membership to help support these issues, as well as to support your local branch and state.
Daytona Beach Branch dues for 2020-2021 will be $85. Please send dues to: AAUW Daytona Beach

AAUW Daytona Minutes
February 8
A short business meeting was held before the Book Club meeting on February 8.
Pat Ross called the meeting to order at 11:05. Present were Mary Ann Sines, Susan Bayley, Susan Jano, Ellen O'Shaughnessy, Elvira LaBarre and Patricia Ross.
Pat explained that the members had been notified about the meeting. Those present represent a quorum of the branch (15% of 23 members)
Ellen O'Shaughnessy moved that we fund both the Woman in Transition ($800) and our portion of the AAUW STEM Scholar scholarships at Daytona State College.
Elvira Labarra seconded. We have sufficient funds in our account ($5751 of which $310 was raised through the virtual hopliday tea)
The vote was unanimous. Joanne will be asked to send the funds and has the correct contact info.
Pat Ross reminded members that we need to think about board members for next year. This year we are scheduled to elect a President and a Program VP.
Tech Trek Committee: Ellen O'Shaughnessy, Susan Jano and Elvira LaBarre volunteered to serve as the interview committee for any Daytona nominees. They will be provided with questions and the interviews are likely to be in March.
The business meeting adjourned at 11:12.
Approved, February 20, 2021
