Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
February 2018
The school year has just begun here in Uganda and it is always a lot of work, but fun too, getting the older children off to boarding school. Seeing to their needs, some need uniforms, others a suitcase or new metal storage box, sleeping mat, others

shoes, so many different needs. It is time we get to spend with them as well, loving them and building relationships. We see them in AWANA during the holidays, at special seminars and church, visitations, etc., but when they come to the office we get to rea lly visit with them. It is a special time to us and I believe to them as well.

This is also a time when very many people come with children that need sponsors and spend time sharing their stories with us. We work in a country with overwhelming circumstances. A country that is considered the third poorest in the world with around 40 million people, 56% of them under the age of 15 years. Only 12% will make it through high school. Thankfully, HUM kids are in this minority. We thank God for the sponsors we have and pray for more, as our list is long and the real need is unbelievable!

Here you find many children raising children. Often when we visit homes we do not find a guardian or parent. This is a cycle we want to break together with breaking the poverty cycle. We want to see children growing up educated, loving Jesus and having their own families that function where the father is working and sometimes the mother, but the children are taken care of and have plenty of love. We have found it is happening as our sponsored kids grow up and it makes us very happy - we just give thanks to all our donors and sponsors, and most of all - God! He put it in my heart strong that the children of Uganda needed love and care, they needed hope that could only come from knowing Jesus. We need you and your prayers too!

We thank God we were able to help Moses, the young boy who had a worm eating the bone of his thigh and making him unable to walk. He nearly lost his leg but we were able to find donors to make a difference. Moses is walking now, still getting therapy, but he is even playing football some. This was our prayer. Please pray that we are able to help Gloria, who is bright, or we will not be  able to take her to high school. She needs a new wheelchair and treatment for her arms, though the doctors have said that they will be unable to help her legs.

Thank you to all of you who are giving to this need. Right now we have a good number of underfunded children. We know that things are not always easy in America either and some of our sponsors have been unable to continue their sponsorship. We have many new children on the waiting list as well that we hope to bring into the ministry as soon as we have all of our current children fully funded. If you, or someone you know, would like to be a part of this effort please consider sharing your love with one of these children in this letter or see more at our website. We so appreciate your support and prayers and pray for a year of blessings for each and every one of you.
I love you all with the love of Christ and give thanks for all you do.

Sponsors Needed

We shared with you last month about Henry, who graduated from our sponsorship program several years ago and is now in full kidney failure. We covet your prayers for Henry and his family at this time and are seeking sponsors for his 2 young children.

Though Henry worked as a mechanic for Toyota in the city his young wife and children will soon return home to the village. You may sponsor 4-year-old Maleza Chrispus or 1 ½ -year-old Nyaiti Herezi at our website, www. Hineskids.org. They will each require $60 from a single sponsor or $30 ea. from 2.

You may also wish to  consider some of our other underfunded children, like Nuru below, who are in need of full or partial sponsorship. Visit us at www.hineskids.org.
Eight-year-old Nuru has been moved between many family members. Sponsorship is offering stability and hope for a future for Nuru. She needs a second sponsor at $30/mo. to help us more fully meet her sponsorship needs.  Sponsor Nuru  at
