Mountain bikers and Disc Golfers 
must be off the trails/course 
by 5:45 p.m.
The New Hill parking area 
on the American Tobacco Trail will close at 5:30 p.m.

The park will close at 5:30 p.m. at Harris Lake County Park 
and 5:00 p.m. at the 
New Hill parking area.

Thursday, November 22
We are CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day.  Please come see us on Friday to get some fresh air!

Bond Referendum
On Nov. 6, Wake County voters will have the opportunity to decide on  a $120 million, 
six year bond 
for open space preservation, greenways, new park and nature preserve construction and  existing park renovations.

Program Fee  Change Coming
Beginning January 1, 2019 there will be no charge for public, group or outreach programs within Wake County Parks, Recreation
 and Open Space.

There will still be fees for kids drop off programs such as Nature Labs, Eco Tracks and Day Camps. Also fees will still apply for shelters, group camp, mill tours, BJPCP lodge and boat rental.

Please do not enter this area  or allow your child to access this area while under construction. 
The Natural Play Area, located next to the Restroom Building,
will remain open throughout this time.

Fall Foliage Hike (New Hill)
Saturday, November 3      2 - 3 p.m.
For all ages      $1/person

Every autumn, our trees put on a gorgeous show of color. Join us for a stroll along the Trail to enjoy the beauty and learn about how trees prepare for winter as you observe the changes happening around you.

Full Moon Hike on the ATT
Friday, December 21      5:30 - 7 p.m.
For all ages      $1/person

    Celebrate the first day of winter by taking a moonlit stroll down the Trail to the Beaver Creek Bridge and back, listening and looking for nocturnal wildlife. We will enjoy some fun night time activities too.  Bring a flashlight.

Family Disc Golf
Saturday, November 10   
Choose a lesson time: 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.
For ages 6 and up 

This special instructional event is for players of all levels. We extend a very special invite to our Military Veterans to take part in this clinic! Capital Area Disc League (CADL) will be leading this event to provide the basics of disc golf.  Bring your own discs or borrow ours.

Adventure into Autumn
Sunday, November 18     1 - 3 p.m.
Free for all ages
 
Join NC State Parks, Recreation and Tourism students to discover how the world around you transitions from fall to winter. From meeting a live snake to creating a fall craft, participants will learn how plants and animals use autumn to prepare for winter. Dress for the weather and have lots of fun as you move through four stations.

The Fallen Log!
Monday, November 19     11-noon
$4/child ages 1 - 6 year w/ accompanying adult
Logs provide great habitat for many animals. Join us as we read  Wendy Pfeffer's A Log's Life explore a real log and create a log craft  to take home.

Thanksgiving Wagon Ride
Friday, November 23     1 -2 p.m.
$1/person     For all ages
Bring the family for a fall wagon ride along the back roads of the park to enjoy the fall colors and the beauty of Harris Lake County Park.  Staff will interpret the natural and historical features in the park. Bring a blanket and dress warm for chilly weather.  
Meet at the wagon in front of the playground.

Create Treats for Wildlife
Monday, December 10     11-noon
$4/child ages 1 - 6 year w/ accompanying adult
As winter approaches, don't forget the wildlife this season! We will read the charming book Night Tree by Eve Bunting and then spend time creating treats for you to take home for your backyard wildlife.

Wagon Ride with Santa
Saturday, December 15     2:30 - 4 p.m.
$2/person     For all ages
SER Santa
Harris Lake will welcome a special holiday visitor this December!  
Santa will take time out of his busy schedule to join us for a cup of hot cocoa and a ride on our wagon along the back roads of the park.  
Spend some special time with Santa. 
Bring a blanket for chilly weather.

Nature Lab:
Kids Get Holiday Crafty
Friday, December 21     1 - 4 p.m.
$12/child     For ages 6 - 12 years
Bring your kids to the park for an afternoon of crafting and nature while you take advantage of a few more hours of holiday shopping.  The crafts your child creates will make great keepsakes or gifts for Christmas.  We will provide snacks, music and all the supplies! This has become a holiday tradition so register early.
