Serving Veterans
Throughout early October, we helped out Raymond Garza, a U.S. Army veteran and citizen of Lake Dallas, with his home. Our Build Committee volunteers trimmed his trees and bushes, hauled brush away, and overall cleared and cleaned up his large yard. Mr. Garza could no longer keep up with all the yardwork himself, so he reached out to Habitat for help, and we were happy to provide! Thank you, Mr. Garza, for your service to our country!

Thank you to our amazing Build Committee volunteers! They worked hard for several days in hot October weather to help this veteran, and we couldn't be more grateful. These volunteers make our mission possible every day!

Service Spotlight: Habitat Build Committee!
Did you know that Habitat for Humanity of Denton County's Build Committee is made up entirely of volunteers? These dedicated volunteers are the ones putting in all the time and effort to build, repair, and paint the homes of the people we serve in Denton County. They also attend many meetings, keep our trailers stocked with supplies, and lead other volunteers on work days. Without their committed service, we could not serve as many people as we do with such high quality work! Our Build Committee volunteers truly make our mission possible every single day. THANK YOU!
Correction to last issue's Service Spotlight:

In the last issue of this newsletter, we noted that Ruth's Room had donated $1,000,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Denton County since 2011, but we've received updated numbers since then:
In 2018, Ruth's Room surpassed $2,000,000 in donations to Habitat Denton! Now, in 2020, they have donated over $2,200,000 and look forward to someday reaching the $3,000,000 mark! Wow! Thank you, Ruth's Room!
A Brush with Kindness
On Saturday, October 3, our wonderful volunteers painted the outside of a house at Solutions of North Texas, a nonprofit in Denton that provides residential services and programs of recovery for men and women who struggle with alcoholism and/or drug addiction. One of the residential services they provide is "Nice, cheerful, and stable housing," so we were delighted to partner together to improve this aspect of their program! This house was Solutions of North Texas' "Return to Monitor" house, which caters to women that are being reunited with their children after successfully completing a program of sobriety. We are so grateful to be able to partner with local nonprofits during these hard times in our world to help those truly in need.

Thank you to our volunteers from Lantana YMSL, our Build Committee, and the staff at Solutions of North Texas, for all of your support and hard work, making this all possible!
