Small Business Lending Insider

September 2018
From the Director's Desk
We have been very busy here in the finance department at SEDA-COG. We are currently scheduling bank presentations for our lending partners to update them on changes since their last SBA 504 project including the addition of the 25- year debenture, the availability of PIDA and revolving loan funds and more. Don't miss your opportunity, call us to be put on the schedule today!

Two exciting opportunities exist this coming month for me to network with other economic development professionals and businesses across Pennsylvania. The first is at the 2018 PEDA Fall Conference, Erie Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier, Erie, PA; October 1 - October 3, 2018. I will be attending the pre-conference training on The Craft of Deal Structures.

Later in the month I will be setting up an informational table to share SEDA-COG finance options with businesses that are attending the PA Industry Day being held at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill on October 17, 2018 and organized by our own Procurement Technical Assistance Department at SEDA-COG. This event is for PA service and manufacturing companies (not for construction) and is designed to help companies understand how to do business with both Letterkenny and the Tobyhanna Army Depots. Links to both events are below:

Looking forward to seeing some of you in October. Please stop by and say hello.

Best Regards,
R oxanne G.
Community Reinvestment Act (CRA)
Does your bank need more  Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) credits?   Then look no further than participating in SBA 504 deals. Banks that involve an SBA 504 loan into a financing structure are eligible to earn CRA credits.

In addition to lowering your risk in the deal and qualifying for CRA credits, your small business client will also benefit from a long-term, fixed rate loan and lower money down. Have an owner-occupied commercial real estate deal in PA? Contact SEDA-COG to see how we can help.

For more information about the SBA 504 loan and how to qualify for CRA credits using a 504 loan, check out this article published by the OCC in March 2012.

New Grant Program
for Dairy Industry
The PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has announced a new grant program that targets dairy industry projects related to research and development, organic transition, value-added processing, and marketing and will be administered jointly by DCED's Grants Office and the PA Department of Agriculture (PDA), under the direction of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

Click here for more information on the eligibility requirements of the grant and how to apply.
