It was a pleasure to welcome MENA Tour Golf Professional Sam Hobday and his father Barry who visited Azerbaijan for the first time from Bahrain. As the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain’s Club Ambassador, Sam competes in professional events around the Middle East and Africa as he climbs the ladder towards the main European Tour. Playing on Sunday Phil Jones teamed up with Nabi Efendi for a match Azerbaijan V Bahrain and a chance for Nabi to learn from Sam about course management and his swing technique. The weather was somewhat mixed for the entire round, but with the closing holes played in glorious autumn weather Phil and Nabi edged forward for a 2Up win. Sam will spend the next few days in Baku practicing with Tural from our Academy team who has been invited by the Bahrain Golf Association to play in the 11th King Hamad Trophy. Exciting times and more updates to follow for the event which is staged the 15th – 17th November in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
A.I.G.S
Well done to the players in this weekend’s A.I.G.S (Azerbaijan International Golf Society) Stableford event. Taking a share of the honours was Bryan Thomas followed by Nik Young both with 39 points. In third and fourth place were Stuart Mclean and Alisdair Still with a one under par - 37pts. Well done to Nik who won the Nearest the Pin on Hole 5 and Darren Thomson for his Longest Drive on Hole 12. The society will play next weekend at the National Azerbaijan Golf Club at Quba, more details can be obtained through Martin Doherty society chairman. 
WINTER SCRAMBLE
Despite our efforts we are unable to secure a Sponsor for November Winter Scramble. With high demand for the tee sheet, we will open Sunday 11th of November for general play tee times.  Our events team will focus on the Christmas (Fancy Dress) Scramble for Sunday the 9th of December with an 11.00am start due to the infamous BBG Christmas Party the night before!! 
Those members following our social media updates may have seen that Dreamland Golf Club has been awarded its first listing with the National Club Golfer ranking as 80 / 100 in their 2018/19 travel guide.  Journalist and Editor Chris Bertram was in Baku in April to see the city and play the course for his first time. He has since toured and played 125 of the leading resort courses to publish the new rankings. Commenting on Dreamland’s first entry - “Golf in Azerbaijan...it’s genuinely good. A really good course……..and with the fascinating city of Baku on its doorstep, this is a brilliant step into the unknown”. 
Dreamland Medal Series 2018 - Grand Final Results
Well done to Chris Wood-Woolley and Elman Rzayev on their recent achievements in the 2018 Medal Series. Winning the order of merit requires consistent and frequent participation throughout the season in order to accumulate as many points as possible. Both players have played well this year with Chris reducing his handicap from 12.3 to 10.1 and Elman reducing his handicap to 18.0 having started the year at 30.0! Keep up the great work!
Saturday 27th of October 2018 – Saturday Roll Up Results
Due to windy playing conditions only 25 players participated in last week’s Saturday Roll Up. Darren Thomson took first place with 1 under par 37 points. Wade Droney took second place with level par 36 points. Iain Grant kept himself on the leader board two weeks in a row with his one over par 35 points, which brought him the third place.
Last Saturday three players had 2s on their card. Patrick Clark and Jinyoub Choi birdied the 5th hole whilst Wade Droney birdied the 13th hole to put 2 on their scorecards
Qatar Trip
Thanks to those who have signed up for the Qatar trip it promises to be a great couple of days playing these fantastic Middle East courses! Below is a brief summary:

Sunday 25th of November – Doha Golf Club – home of the Qatar Masters (European Tour Event)

Turkish Airlines World Cup Grand Final
Eldar Kerimov got off to a solid start with 37 points putting him in 16th place at Titanic Golf Club in Belek. With a strong field of over 100 golfers from all over the world, Eldar is in a great position to challenge for a spot in the European Tour Pro Am later this week. We wish him good luck in producing another fine round today.
Staff Winter Matchplay
The preliminary round of our Staff Winter Matchplay was yesterday completed on the Academy Par 3 course. It has been great to see members of the Golf Ops and Academy teams practicing hard in recent weeks in preparation for their singles matches. Notable wins for Hafiz (Academy), Fuad, Araz (Golf Operations) and Orxan (Membership) see them all through to the last 16. The next round of matches shall be completed in 2 weeks.
Academy Membership Promotion
With Dreamland Academy becoming increasingly busy with new visitors we are offering a membership promotion to entice novice golfers between now and the end of the season. Should you know of any colleagues or friends that might be interested in learning the game, please kindly share this great value offer. 
Foot Golf
To coincide with the football season getting underway this month we are offering a 2 for 1 promotion on all Monday evening rounds of Foot Golf. 
The game is played similarly to golf, with the exception that a football is used instead of a golf ball. Also the ball is kicked rather than hit with a club, and aimed towards an oversized hole in place of the usual golf hole. Our specially built 9 hole course at the Academy includes bunkers, trees, hills and water which should all be evaded to reach the hole.
It’s great fun for all the family!! Get your shooting boots on and come and have a crack at breaking the Dreamland course record. We’re open every Monday from 17:00-20:00
