"For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future"
Raising Godly leaders for a country in need
N oember 2017

We are excited that for the first time we have received Christmas boxes for 750 children in Kamonkoli from Operation Christmas Child. It was a time that was fun for all the children and I missed it! However I am sharing some of the pictures of the kids receiving their boxes here. We are thankful for this as so many of the children in AWANA are not sponsored and do not receive anything for Christmas other than the party that we do for them.

We still need donations for the children's Christmas as we are planning for our annual Christmas party and expecting 3,000 children. We plan to give them all a good hot meal, candy and cake as well as the message of Hope. We will have a team of 20 people from

Orphan's Heart sharing in the fun. Please pray for the message to touch those who have not yet come to Christ. The youth will be there to help serve the children their meal and be a part of all the action! If you have not had a chance to give yet, it is not too late and we need your help. We ask for a gift of $35 per child that will help your sponsored child or others as we are able to help with the generous donations.

I had the chance to be on an exciting interview with Eric Metaxas on the 20th of November. I enjoyed talking with him and sharing about Uganda. If you get a chance you can listen to the podcast at http://www.metaxastalk.com/podcasts/ I hope you enjoy it.

I want to share about one of the little girls who lives in one of the children's homes. Cathy is six years old and is attending her first year of school in kindergarten at our Genesis School.   Cathy has two sisters who live in other orphanages and three brothers are still at home with their parents. Because her parents are very low functioning they are unable to care for her so many children.

Cathy is doing well in the children's home and is looking forward to Christmas which she says is her favorite time of the year. She, however, often wakes up in the night with nightmares of things that happened to her before she was removed from her home. She had some abuse from a relative and this has given her these nightmares for some time now. Pray for her and give thanks to God for we love her in the children's home.

It was a blessing to see many of you during this visit. I am looking forward to returning home soon to spend time with the children while they are on their school break.  Wishing you and your family His many blessings this Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Savior.                     Katherine

We so appreciate how so many of you continue to share in this ministry, not only through gifts, but through prayer, visiting to work alongside us, volunteering, sharing what God is doing through HUM, words of encouragement, listening and sharing our times of joy and pain. You really are a big part of us and we thank God for you every day. As the year comes to an end we ask that you all remember HUM in your yearend giving considerations. We always have needs in our ministry funds and for Christmas. Other specific needs include:
  • Higher Education fund ($10,000)
  • School building # 3 furnishings ($8,000)
  • Housing for Melanie, Elizabeth & Laura (approx.. $25,000 still needed)
  • Transformer to bring adequate elec, tricity to our property. ($2,500)
We are blessed to have you as friends and pray for all the best for your family as you celebrate Christmas.

Christmas
in Uganda

Please join us in blessing children this Christmas and showing them the love of Jesus.  Just $35 will provide a special Christmas meal, clothing, hygiene supplies and special Christmas food, including meat for them to take home to the family.   We already have the cow and will butcher it before the party. Provide this for your sponsored child or our underfunded and waiting children. Because Katherine and Melanie's baggage space is very limited we ask that you help your child in this way rather than send things to our U.S. office for them to take. You may send cards and small packages to our field address if you would like, but keep in mind that there is some chance of theft. Please never send cash or checks to the field address.     To donate click "Donate" at our website

text "HUM" to 41444 or give by mail to
