Gene17's River Flow Newsletter

This autumn and early winter in Devon has been great. A full course programme for both Deb Pinniger & Simon Westgarth, plus a guest appearance from Jakub Sedivy too. In October Dartmoor got 223mm of rain and a further 227mm in November, made for many warm and wet days on the rivers.

During the recent Gene17 Adventure Paddlers Weekend, Rowan James, Tom Botterill and Jakub Sedivy providing a stellar line up. Talks from Asia, India and stories of the Dart too. Highlights included epic flood conditions on the Dart, and tails of running blind canyons in Kyrgyzstan. 4/6 December 2020 is next year's event.

Whilst it was great to have the team together in Devon, successes to celebrate include; Jakub Sedivy being selected as an Olympus Ambassador, Rowan James secures a full Team Palm deal, Deb Pinniger is but a few chapters of completing her PhD, and Simon Westgarth starts lecturing as an Associate Professor in Lillehammer for the spring term, (which is done thankfully before the paddling season starts). Great news for everyone to end the year, and look forward to 2020.

Which means it is time for us all to wish to a Merry Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

Jakub Sedivy has recently become an Olympus Ambassador

DEVON DELIVERS
This autumn and winter has brought so much rain to Devon, that most days of the season have been good, and often great paddling days. Above is Matt Brook running some of the East Okement slides on the northern slopes of Dartmoor.

TRIP CHANGES IN 2020
Whilst both early and late season trips are all inclusive, from mid May onwards, we now offer a Coaching Only option. This option gives paddlers the flexibility of getting to the destination themselves with their own gear, plus enjoy their own off the water arrangements; Trips like  Piemonte Steep Creeking  & Piemonte Intro to Creeking  in Italy are good examples. In Slovenia all summer long, plus Norway too.

All our Road Trips in Corsica and Norway have a different Package Deal, with coaching, accommodation and local transport included. Through our experience this options allows for paddlers to take charge of there own catering, whether they wish to join their guide or experience something different.  Of course all these different service changes are reflected in the final trip price.
